Folks, they're not burgers, they're steak hache. Minced steak formed into a patty. Similar of course but not the same. Ubiquitous in France and eaten as you would a steak - also quite delicious. Not at all odd for a teppanyaki in Paris to be serving this.

I hope it wasn't too expensive... as above 10 euros I wouldn't eat a hamburger outside. How many times as a Belgian was I mistaken by the name "steak" when I travelled through France. Most of the time they were hamburgers and some times they were thin slices of beef as hard as stones. Better ordering a rumstake, a t-bone or something very specific for a fantastic piece of meat.

I believe in Japan they call that Hamburg Steak, North America its called Salisbury Steak or Chopped Steak in the US. It goes by many names but at the end of the day, it's just chopped up meat formed into a patty. No more than a glorified piece of meatloaf. But you know exactly what you get when you order it.

The fact that the " Steaks " are usually Ground beef , probably alludes to the Quality of the Local Beef . The only REAL steak was a Scotch Fillet , about the only part of a Typical Cow that is Guaranteed Edible , as is .
