Running a legal 10.17s at 16 years old is insane. His top-end speed is elite, just gotta work on that start.
@user-bw2gk5lc7j19 күн бұрын
As someone who knows nothing about sprinting, can I ask, how would someone with Gout's build improve their start? His build is the complete opposite of Su Bingtian for example, who has a strong start of course

Our national sprinter Khairul Hafiz ran 10.18 seconds when he was 18, but his performance dropped after that. The same thing happened with other young sprinters they struggle with consistency. Even Azeem now 20, the current Malaysian 100m record (10.09) holder, is still trying to break the 10 second barrier. I just hope this new sprinter doesn’t end up like the others, showing potential early on but fading as they get older.

from my crude attempts, i get this based on dead reckoning form track markings for mens 110mh, start for 2000m and the mile. i get 22 frames (0.88s) for last 10m, 22 frames (0.88s) for the distance between mile and 2km start (approx 11m), then i get between 19 and 22 frames for approx 50m-80m mark, for each 9m segment. all of these times are equivalent to 0.8s (or faster)- 0.88s...times that athletes who run 9.5 can do.

Apparently when his coach started (when he’s 13) he could only walk on tip toes, - took 6 months of stretches to get is heel touching ground that’s how tight he was/is. As he keeps training, hopefully loosening up with time, his starts will go from a weakness to a strength and his times could be unbelievable.

the hype around gout gout isn't so much because of how fast he's running but how natural it looks for him. His technique is still quite poor (especially in his start) and yet he's capable of these times. His potential is definitely the highest out of any youngster
