- Keep clothes dry in ziploc bags if needed (especially undergarments) - Be sure to have all your important documents in a waterproof and movable container - try to withdraw at least $100 in cash in case debit/credit cannot be accepted due to lack of power - have a form of entertainment that doesn’t require power (playing cards etc) - If a generator is too expensive you can buy a “power inverter” that connects to a car battery for about $40-75 dollars (it can charge your phone multiple times or even run a small appliance like a fan. Colorado native here. I have two family members in Florida. I told them I would pay for their evacuation cost and cover any lost pay. They are going to ride it out and they are in the path! This is major and unlike being an employee at University hospital giving us instructions where to meet at group spots to pick up workers during major shutdowns for snow and Ice storms. Packed a bag in juvenile 24/7 to stay during road shutdowns for snow.
