So in your opinion, which one do you like better in general after the newest update for the bars? Not talking tv size into account, just in terms of the products themselves, govee light bars vs govee strips? What is the pros and cons of both?
@edwardferry82473 жыл бұрын
It’s primary problem is not having a flexible camera head. Depending on your TV or monitor the camera may not be picking up the screen area properly. I have to tilt mine quite far forward for it to work so it’s not the best solution. If I could just dip the camera head rather than the entire stand as well this would be so much better. Cant complain for £50 though, cheap as chips in comparison to Philips. I have Philips hue all over the house and they are superb I just wasn’t prepared to pay what they were asking for the HDMI box. I would definitely recommend these lights for TV.
@RomboutVersluijs3 жыл бұрын
Im glad thet go to this dark red vs a light color when its all black, I think it picks up reflection on the monitor and thus that is the closest color.

This would be especially badass with some full screen winamp vis plugins on the tv. I'm really loving what Govee is bringing to the table, way better value then Hue, but as many or more features, other hue competitors disapoint me (looking at you C by ge) because of the app issues and lack of functionality, and not relaly sure whats up with lifx, almost as expensive and seem really small in the space, almost feels like they are phasing out production. Meanwhielgoovee continues to innovate, release updates to already great software and keep making new products, like the upcoming floor lamp whch looks great.

Picked up the bars around a month or two ago based on your original review and after the update they’re even better. Regarding the red light bug when the screen is dark, mine are almost always the dim white unless the screen is reflecting me/the room in it.

The main feature of the Hue Play Bars is the Hue entertainment compatibility. To compare the HPB with the Govee lights is like comaring apples with pears.
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
Firstly, I like Philips products. And I agree, the HPB’s strongest draw is the ecosystem that it was designed for. But what we shouldn’t do, is overlook shortcomings, simply because of ease of use within a family of products. Many android users argue this very point with Apple users. And though I predominantly use Apple products, I clearly see this point, and wholeheartedly concur.

The only thing I have to add is that with a normal LCD TV, they don't pick up color as well as with an OLED. Dark isn't dark, but will depend on your specific TV (some people get a blue hue, other red/purple hue). Also, the split screen function seems not to be working so well for me

I just added these to my T2 camera and light strip setup. I was going to get the smaller light bars. I think they’re just older or pass gen, maybe used for smaller TVs? I use to be so frustrated with my system but I have to say it’s gotten a lot better. I really thought it was just about lowering your saturation and then finding the right white color balance. But now i changed my brightness from like 75%-100% down to 25% and looks so much better and accurate. I didn’t think just lowering the brightness would make this difference. There is a relativeness brightness I saw. Do you have that on a specific percentage and if it should be really low too? Thanks!

So my main question would be what is your overall recommendation for the Govee products as a main entertainment lighting enhancement? I have the full Philips Hue package (tv backlighting, sync box and hub) and Govee is far more affordable. But now that I have the Philips products, I wonder if Govee was the better option. Thoughts?
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
I think products from both brands are awesome. There are major pros and cons with each, though. I will say that the Govee solution has far less restrictions and roadblocks (0 video source limitations, 0 HDMI 2.1 limitations & 0 DRM limitations.... But the trade off for this Govee freedom is the visible camera and less accuracy in general. But the color science is getting better as time goes on. Hope that helps!

Hi! I'm seeing lots of comments about 2 cameras, do you need 2 camera to do the split light effect on a screen, or are the 2 cameras just for if you have the bars and strip?
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the later is correct. Two cameras are only required if you want to use the bars and the immersion light strips together. Split screen will work just fine with the bars using a single camera.

So can you use the immersion and play bars with one single camera? I seem to remember that 2 is needed for both

That is correct, unfortunately as it stands now, 2 cameras are required for the dual set up.

Have you tried using a USB C splitter to connect the Flow bars to the immersion unit only using one camera?
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
I actually tried this a few weeks ago without any luck. For the time being, it appears that two cameras is the only method for a dual set up unfortunately

The bars in the video are actually not installed together. I simply swapped the usbc cable to the control box, back and forth for testing. You’ll notice that they are not running simultaneously ;)

Hi there..new to the channel...do you have the strips on and the bars? Or that's the bars only on the demo?..and when the tv goes black..the lights turn off...my strips goes blue and doest turn off..how I set them to turn off when blacks...and why 2 cameras?
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
First and foremost, welcome! Throughout the demo, I showcase the bars both on their own as well as with the immersion 2.0. Take note of the captions as the lights change. Try adjusting your saturation between zero and 15%, that should assist with the strips dimming white when the screen goes black. Check out this video here for more info on my dual camera set up kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJ_cqqmPe9ycppY

Still needs work. Mine now work independently but display random colours.
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
Try playing around with the saturation, and make sure that there aren’t any other RGB light sources the cameras might be picking up.
@Chesterflaps3 жыл бұрын
@@MrTekSuggest I have the immersion lights as well but I make sure to calibrate well inside the tv frame to avoid reflection from the immersion lights or the bars themselves. The immersion strip works ok but the bars don’t.
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
@@Chesterflaps I am assuming that the camera for your bars are in the same vicinity as the camera for your strips?
@Chesterflaps3 жыл бұрын
@@MrTekSuggest they’re next to each other. I did what someone else suggested and calibrated further in at the sides. Works better but because it is looking further in from the edge, it displays the colour which is a few inches in from the side rather than what’s at the side, it often gives a different colour to the immersion lights.

@ariusaneid14513 жыл бұрын
I love my immersion light strip, but I cannot stand that skin tones end up displaying purple/magenta, and dark scenes are almost always a bright blue (unless the entire screen is dark, but if a side is dark, its almost always blue). I'd love to add these into the entire setup, but seeing more of this aspect isn't super great. Plus, is there any indication they plan to allow multiple lights to run off a single camera? Can't really get excited about adding to it if I need yet another of those sticking out. Love the videos by the way, sold me the first time, for sure!
@MrTekSuggest3 жыл бұрын
Hey, definitely some valid gripes you’ve voiced. It is highly likely that if the single camera innovation happens, it would be through new hardware of a next gen. I agree that multiple cameras for a larger immersive experience should not be a necessary trade off. And most certainly, more fine tuning is needed on the color matching science . Above all, my goal is to give you guys the facts, the good, the bad and everything in between, so that you can make the best decision for YOU!
@ariusaneid14513 жыл бұрын
@@MrTekSuggest Absolutely, and I appreciate your video because it gave me a lot of info to make an educated decision! Hopefully the color tuning is something they actually do more of with software updates. I did some testing after making this comment and realized I'm getting less of the blue color than I think I used to. It seems to be connected to dark gray specifically. Black goes to a dim white (used to always be blue when I originally got it), light gray goes to a brighter white. But that dang blue on those darkish scenes and the purple when watching anything with close ups of people is the only thing that ruins it for me. Turning my saturation and brightness down makes it easier to manage though. At least it doesn't cost $500+ to start and forces you to ignore your smart TV built in apps by making you run your media through an HDMI box 😁 By the way, have you done any compiling or testing of callibrating techniques, or tips/tricks during calibration that help make it better? I saw some random things here and there suggested, but it all seemed more or less guesses.
