Yes and make sure that you're parish donations do not go to the diocese. The way that you avoid that is by writing in the memo line of your check a specific thing that you are giving the donation for so it might be something like the building fund or electricity for the church something like that that the bishop cannot then take from the parish.

I have been screaming it at the top of my lungs for at least 20 years. In the New York Archdiocese, they are a RICO operation that occupies more office space than any other church function at the now former "Cardinal Cooke Building" on First avenue. They sold it for 100 million dollars. Guess why?

I am an American Catholic, I was adopted at 3 months old through Catholic Charities and raised by a loving Catholic family. My biological mother was 17 years old (she was American), and because of CC I was able to have a good life raised by a family that could provide for me in ways that she could not. I am deeply troubled to see this once-great organization as one of the major players in what is essentially human trafficking across the border. The bishops are wrong on this one. I’m with President Trump. Every nation has a right to protect its borders. The pope especially has no moral standing to speak on this. He lives in a walled city that is heavily protected by Swiss guards. How dare he tell America how to run its own borders! If he feels so strongly about the issue, he should be housing migrants in the papal palace. This is craven hypocrisy. He doesn’t tell any other nation how they should run their immigration policy. The US takes on more immigrants, both legal and illegal, than any nation on earth. I for one refuse to contribute another penny to the archdiocese, as long as they are pushing open borders. Defund the bishops. I’ll always be Catholic, I’ll always go to Mass, but I’m not contributing to this travesty until the Church addresses this issue with common sense and respect for law and order.

There are also other NGOs involved and receiving money from the government. One other is actually the American Red Cross. Also, in my diocese, I have seen a flyer circulated on the web (facebook) for a gathering for Illegal Immigrants called "Know Your Rights." It is to be held soon at a former Catholic Church, and the organizer's email is at a neighboring Catholic Church. Also, if you look at the involvement in this illegal immigrant disaster, you will find that the American Civil Liberties Union is neck deep in it and has been for a very long time.

I was an employee of Catholic Charities back in the 90’s. I learned all about wokism there, long before it became known. DEI was practiced flagrantly. I am a foreign-born American who always thought that Americans should come first and foremost. I used to work in a Public School making a little more than the minimum wage. The school that I worked for consisted of about eighty percent of children of illegals. It would break my heart to see that the twenty percent left over of blacks and whites always came second. And they were Americans. What you described as a nurse, I experienced as well, as a teacher’s aide. Hard work, low pay, forced to be silent so as not to lose my job. I saw so much abuse in my school that it bordered insanity. Americans did not have a chance in anything, unless they had the right surname and the status of their parents in this country. And it was okay with staff, but not with me…

It is not just a CCharity and Bishop's Appeal issue . I was shocked to learn my parish ( a very small histiric one) gets NOTHING from the diocese. In fact we essentially pay a franchise fee 2b part of the diocese A % of EVERY dollar given is owed to the diocese. Every parish is expected to be totally self supporting. Its time to jetison CC and most of the " administrative" staff of the diocese. All they are admistrating is their own salaries & benefits ad benefits 4 illegals. The Federal, State, and local government have NO reason at all to fund private nor religious "charities"! Often called "NGO's", for Non-Governmental Organizations, and mostly chartered as "Charitable or not-for-profit corporations", government grants to these organizations should always be questioned and investigated for possible fraud or diversion of funds. As a tax-payer, I would not choose to contribute to any of these organizations, and I suspect, neither would you.

I worked for a very prestigious hospital for just over 10 years…every single patient I got from Catholic Charities, and I mean every single one, was non English speaking. All of them. None were from the US. We would make comments about how we could walk out of the hospital and grab a homeless American that needed care, yet CC, based in our city, seemed to only find and help non citizens. I’m glad they are being defunded.

A good weeding/pruning is necessary from time to time. Michael Hichborn has been on the Catholic Charities incompatibility of taking BILLIONS of dollars and becoming a compromised NGO. At present, there are about 58,000 non-profit charities in America. Just recently, I heard on the radio that non-profits are not subject to Freedom Of Information Act requests. I was astounded to hear that! Be very careful what charities you donate to, as many, if not most, of these charities are working against America.

For a while, mother lived in a catholic charity retirement home. It was a nightmare; not clean, full of ineligible people and their adult children never leaving, bullies in the office and the staff was full of racism against the residents. No amount of reporting, filming and meetings with all levels of leadership changed anything. This was in the New Orleans area.

@ we did not, she made the most of it for a bit but within 6 to 8 months of daily struggles with the staff we made another arrangement. Which she enjoyed the remainder of her days.

As a Catholic I became aware of problems in my neighborhood in Houston with immigration assistance and what I found to be the inclusion of bringing in homosexual teen boys for transport to various Catholic Seminaries throughout the US. Enough said, sadness. Prayer. I never kept any record of details. I have long since forgotten details. But I have the knowledge in my heart from my taking courses at the Pontifical College in Columbus, Ohio while a theology student at the United Methodist Seminary in nearby Delaware, Ohio. This darkness was affirmed when our Bishop as President of the American Bishops at their annual meeting in Baltimore was told to stand down by the Vatican from even discussing these problems.

Ever since the 1960s, there have been some strange “fellowships” (trying to be charitable here lol) among newer bishops and certain left-wing political elements masquerading as charity; and not in service to the Church at all. It needs to stop.
