If the government actually wanted to help delivery drivers they would have lowered taxes. But instead they artificially increase what theyre paid, so they can collect more taxes. Except it doesnt work that way and all they did was kneecap another industry. "There is no free lunch." - Thomas Sowell

@allster0crowly
@allster0crowly 9 күн бұрын
Again, another person cutting the quote short, I'm is not count twice in the original quote, the original quote was "Hello, I’m from the government and I’m here to help", it had a double meaning the first is the one most people see, the second is that he stressed both Hello and Help, making it a bit more clear. Nine individual words totaling ten in the sentence, it creates a false statement but also a true statement, depending on how it is viewed much like the government itself or politicians.

This is old news, but...half of what you pay for a plumber, an electrician, a barber, and an air conditioner repairman is covering the cost of fees, licenses, insurance, and permits. I worked without government permission for 36 years, charging half of what a licensed company would have to charge. How did I get away with that? By doing quality work. I never had a complaint in 36 years. That's why I never got caught.

By having their own delivery people, the places may actually save money. I read a couple of years ago that the delivery apps cut into the profits of a lot of places. Not a lot of margin in most restaurants anyway.
@linhero797
@linhero797 27 күн бұрын
I highly doubt they cost businesses more money. Given they give access to a larger audience and at no cost to the business itself. It makes no sense for it to be any other way in fact the more I think about it. Of course there likely is one way that it costs businesses more money to have more people in staff. That being the businesses were getting some sort of benefit from having the delivery drivers, in either free money or cut taxes. Which is just an example of why taxes need to be heavily cut and simplified.
@Delimon007

Back in the day, delivery places USED to have to hire their own drivers. Tipping was fairly common because everyone knew drivers need to cover their gas. Places always had coupons so people always thought they were getting a good deal. In comes Silicon Valley with their driver pool aps, which brings in a new set of clientele, that doesn't know how to tip, and that doesn't allow drivers to skip orders. Nowadays, busybodies say "tipping culture is abusive/stress inducing/violent/exploitative/whatever" and are busy legislating what THEY think their optimal solution is. Do you want REAL solutions? Draft a law to illegalize penalizing drivers for passing over low-tip orders, and give it some teeth. Also, draft a law to limit the percentage the app company can keep for overhead, and MAKE them give the rest to the employee. Also, explicitly make tips tax exempt. Rather than standard payments, these more flexible laws are going to allow people to sort out the market for themselves.

No amount of Health is going to save you. And, even if you did live to be 100+. What would that quality of life be for you? You'd be barely able to move, not to mention.. @@ssdcatracho77 Depends how you look at it. The sushi I make isn't made with anything super processed. The ingredient list is simple & very short. It's mostly organic & wild caught stuff. The freeze dried wasabi & soy sauce is the exception to that but it's very much needed to enjoy the sushi in my opinion. I wouldn't eat this everyday but I think if I needed to spoil my self I would choose this over Mc Donald's offerings. They load up everything with salt & sugar to make it hard to resist. Far more than I'm comfortable with, all super processed with huge list of things I can't pronounce.

Na, this is going to crash, long before that. If Us falls, the rest of the world will have a economic collapse over night. China is importing rice from USA to feed their own population. Europe is living of the commodities and protection US give. Middle east goes back to barbarism overnight, if they no longer can sell oil to the West. South and central America only survive on selling to the West. And Africa only survive based on the "free" aid from the west. When USA collapses, the rest of the world follow as a house of cards. No internet, no safe banking, no safe trade as pirates will bloom ones more. And we will use the next 50 years rebuilding, if we are lucky. On the positive side, and the socialists who have been living of the west like parasites the last 150 years, will collpase too. So at least their is that.

pro tip for frozen pizzas: The crust is serviceable for most of them, the sauce is okay. The biggest drawback is they skimp on cheese (and sometimes toppings). I keep a bag of pepperoni (from the fridge section) tossed in my freezer, and a bag of shredded cheese. Toss just a bit of extra cheese on, add more toppings optionally. That little bit extra turns a mid-frozen pizza into a pretty darn good one.

It might be intentionally broken garbage. You send it back and get your money back - but not the shipping fees. They actually just paid like 2 bucks for shipping and then pocket the other 8.

The food itself in a restaurant is the cheaper cost in the price of the meal. Giving more food is an easy way to boost the value of the meal, but people tend to take home the remaining part of their meal and then eat out less since they can eat the left overs for other meals. It is a balancing act, but if wages go up and you want to keep prices down the obvious solution is to make bigger meals since things are going to cost more no matter the size, but with a bigger meal the customers get their value still. The only reasons meals shrink is bad publicity, poor planning, or a customer base getting wealthier.
