Hi, I’ve seen it depends upon province to province. In BC Public Service there are jobs for PR too, but yes few jobs Fed jobs, Justice of peace, etc needs citizenship, however if a PR is successful in Interview/test they give you 6 months of time to attain citizenship. Yes, I’ll take citizenship when eligible as it opens more opportunities. Good luck!

Hi, I also applied for the Federal job, cleared assessment test and appeared for an interview in early August this year, after that nothing heard back from them. Website is showing my application status as retained. Keeping my fingers crossed. Just curious to know how much time usually they take for the decision, Secondly at what time they ask for the reference check in context to an interview questions.

Hmmmm, there hiring process is very long and they prefer Citizen’s but do consider PRs as well. Now, I believe HR will pull the files based on relevant experience anybody possess. Don’t loose hope and keep applying, also try in Provincial Public Departments they’ve quick hiring process. Once you have some relevant experience or with Provincial departments, you’ll see a lot of quick positive responses from everywhere. Good Luck!

Hi, there are two kind of Crown Counsels in Canada, one of them are run by Feds and other is by provincial government under prosecution by Ministry of Attorney General. Both of them are government bodies. Fed crowns have more pay and benefits, but provincial crowns also get decent amount of money starting with 130k. I would prefer to work for Feds as of better pay and benefits. Hopefully this will help. Good luck!

Yes a lot, I would say after landing in Canada start working with any suitable company. Try to get it close to Admin position, if not at least start with Customer Care. Keep looking for the jobs you’re interested in. After having experience of 6 months, fast the process to get one.

No, for majority of positions there’s only 1 entry level position to enter and then if you are performing well you’ll get next positions in quick turnaround.

Chances are bright there are many Public and Private jobs which demands environmental studies, but you need to understand the market first and gain some experience in your or related field. After getting PR your chances are more, Good Luck.
