I got an early 2000's 3 channel rev c+ earlier this year and I love it, couldn't imagine a need to mod it, sounds so amazing. I did have a multiwatt a few years back that I sold and regretted selling it a little, but I think really I never dialed the multiwatt in properly to get the best out of it. The c+ is very very easy to get good tones out of though.

I don't really know enough about the timeline and history if the dual recs. I k know a rev c( is probably a really early one so I imagine it sounds awesome. I'm dipping my toe in to the Mesa works and there's a lot to learn. Yeah the sheer amount of options I never know whether I've got the best setting out of the amp. With a single channel or two channel amp it's easy but when you start adding switches and channels it becomes a lot harder. I was thinking of doing some kind of poll to that people can put there settings in just so I can try them and see if there's any that are more common than others.
