Good to see another new episode, with more progress evident. Top marks as always for realism which, to my eyes, comes from the lack of anything with that shiny, brand-new latest must-have-model look, combined with plenty of space, natural “scruffy” lineside areas and a great selection of tastefully-modified locos. IMO, you are doing everything properly and it is paying off. Well done.

Definitely made the right move removing those tracks at the front. Images and videos of a layout are 10 times better if no baseboard edges or non-layout things are on show. Whilst I agree the Accurascale 37 is a solid loco, I do also prefer the Bachmann model, I find it easier to work on if nothing else. Great selection of stock too, especially the Cavalex 56, think it’s probably in the top 3 locos ever produced in OO gauge to date. Thanks for the update and for putting the video together 👍

The layout's coming on a bundle now, and the 'less is more' approach on the yard is definitely a vast improvement. The station area is looking really good too now, and I love your idea of the football stand. That's rarely, if ever, modelled, but it's surprising how many football grounds are right next to railways IRL. Great stuff all round.

Looking nice now Marcus. The video gives a much better perspective to the pictures you sent me. The signals look extremely good - Paul has got the scale spot on with these. The magnetic uncoupling is so simple and I’m not sure why there aren’t more people using it? I think it was you that got me into it for Oak Road about 5 years ago!

Thank you ! Yea , the door reversing makes a big difference. The thought of the flap falling down did cross my mind but I think there would need to be a significant natural event for that to happen 😂

Love this layout. As someone else already pointed out, the 'less is more' principal you adopt really adds that extra element of realism. Thanks for the heads up on the typical Welsh climate btw; I will be heading that way soon and it has prompted me to get a Malaria jab before I go.

Nice update Marcus and good timing. Im just starting a new project thats the same era amd mre than likely goong to be based in S.Wales. Your less is more approach has got me thinking, because at the moment my track plan is more is not enough, so i think ill have to rationalise it. 😂

I really like the sense of space on your layout. As a viewer, I can imagine walking along the road with the gravel crunching under foot. If I can add some constructive advice, perhaps look at adding something to hide the bottom edge of the buildings so they appear to be in the landscape rather than 'on' the landscape. Great stuff!

@GowertonParkway Great. I thought you'd have found it, but one never knows... I've just taken delivery of 37422: the Accurascale DRS unbranded example. I was aware of its former life as Cardiff Canton & that as D6966, it was based in South Wales for around the first 20 years of its life. As you may have guessed, I tend to operate "Rule 1" a great deal, although I do like to run reasonably prototypical individual trains, even if a green livered 37 hauling 16T mineral wagons is passed by a blue, large logo 56 hauling HAA hoppers! You have some mighty fine scenics. You should be proud of what you've achieved.

Hello there . They are neodymium magnets ( available on eBay ) . I use about 4 on top of one and other in a cylinder shape .

Fantastic layout and video. New back to this hobby am aiming to get to your level of quality. Agree with you on tension lock couplings. Will add the wire to the rolling stock ( probably superglue it on) Currently have removed the coupler from both ends of the locos which looks better but your wire hoop/hook looks less obvious and would allow me to fit snow ploughs. Could you tell me where you purchased them from or did you make them yourself. Cheers Mike.

They are made myself . It's 0.5mm Nickle Silver wire , bent into shape and painted accordingly.

As my layout is a end to end with a station. This will work great. As the trains pull in, unload passengers, then reverses up to give anough room to uncouple and run around the coaches. Cheers Mike
