Sri Lanka Lunch With Locals! 🇱🇰

Sri Lanka, Matara. I went to have Kottu for lunch with the locals!
I started out my journey at the beautiful Matara Paravi Duwa Temple - a template on an island in the middle of the sea! What an amazing experience that was!
I then went to have ice cream from a van and then I followed it up with a "number 1" Sri Lankan king coconut! It was delicious!
Finally I went to eat a spicy chicken Kottu and got to chat to the shop owner, the chef and a few of the customers. It was an amazing lunch with amazing company! The food was cooked with love! It was incredible!

Reasons I loved this video : 1)A Muslim in a buddhist temple letting a Bhikku tie a protection talisman or thread (pirith nool) around his wrist. 2) Ali wiping his mouth on his t shirt. Simplicity at its best 3) Ali paying for the womens' ice cream. No change in return at small vendors. Generosity over load 4) Ali eating the flesh of the king coconut minus the spoon. 16:32 Its called “konda kevum” in sinhala. Its a traditional sri lankan sweet made from rice flour and palm treacle. Most oftenly used during the traditional Sinhalese new year’s celebration which falls on mid April every year.

Hi Ali 🐘!! 1st in the vlog You went to temple, persons who wrapps a Yellow color rob is a Buddist priests called "Hamuduruwo". Even you ate Kottu for lunch, we eat them at night. For lunch we use to eat rice & curry. There are plenty of delicious vegetable, fish & meat curries make by locals, that tastes you'll never disappointed. As I've learned, region to region cooking style & ingredients are little different & have it's unique taste. We've never seen you eating rice & curry. Please try them too. That sweet you ate in 17:00 is called "Kevum" which is made with Marinated Rice flour and Palm treacle (Melted suger) . It is a traditional sweet in Sri Lanka especially makes for the Sinhala Tamil New Year in April 13 , 14 . You will see tons of homemade sweets like that in next month ❤

@@GoWithAli Konda Kavum is one of the most popular traditional sweets from Sri Lanka. It needs some skill to cook konda kavum ,specially to cook Konda Kavum with a nice shape. This oil cake/kavum has a top part and it is said 'konda' (in Sinhala,konda means hair and this top part is similar to a bun of hair).

Definitely go to Adam's peak (Sri Pada) if you're looking out for more places to visit. A sunrise hike would take your breath away. It's a 2-4 hour climb but worth it. Big fan of your content! Bless you.
