I like it better without the grips plus keeps it small enough to fit into a light jacket breast pocket. I already ordered an upgraded cooler from China which is cooler at 28w then it currently is at 20w

@@BarelyAverageDude @BarelyAverageDude no, not for sale yet. I think he's thinking of the slide on grips with a built in fan. All the mods for this are from China so far. PureDIY is the main guy making mods. He got his cooler mod, aluminum c and d shell mod, gamepad covers, and he has magnetic grips that he hasn't sold yet. Only way to get any of them is to have a contact in China. The magnetic grips on the auction site are bad. The skins available are pretty good though.

@@lennxeath3293 etsy is a US site where people sell things, mostly things they made for small time sellers. But as of right now pretty much every mod is Chinese only for the mini so need contacts there to get it.

Gpd really shouldve designed some joycon style rails into the casing , having them screw in is like they forgot about the ergonomics during the early design phase

I like my grips but I really dislike the balance of having to tilt my screen to 90 degrees so I can put it down on the table without it falling backwards. I got used to no grips while playing in a reclined position. You just need to index both ring fingers on the bottom footpads under the shell while the screen is nealy 170 degrees. You get used to it. I actually wish skinny low profile grips could be printed which go all the way to the triggers for better lay on table support.

They aren't good, easily move around. I say wait for PureDIYs version which he isn't really concentrating on right now. He's busy with his cooling mod and aluminum c and d shell

If you have the original case it fits with one grip, BUT new new case fits with both grips.

Don’t know if I would get along with a clamshell device, the need to have the sticks recessed would be a problem for me, forced to use the tips of your thumbs for control, don’t think it’s for me, but have not used one.

I feel you, that's why I added the stick grip caps. It's a slight bump, but it makes a huge difference.

I've been using mine for about a week now. Played more than 50 hours already plus used it daily as my only PC (my main rig is back home, had a long flight and whatnot). On the plane I spent 14 hours straight playing handheld. It did take a little while getting used to the control layout because it is different from other things I've used. But I totally disagree with this user. The device is really comfortable to hold. Better than the 3DS, better than the Switch, maybe similar to to Vita in terms of comfort? I don't think the grips are worth it at all. The device is already comfortable to use for literally 12 hours straight in my opinion. It's not as good as my steam deck but then again it is dramatically smaller. The sticks being recessed hasn't been a significant issue. I don't use the tips of my thumbs to use the sticks. I use them exactly the same way I use any other sticks with the pad of my thumb. Being recessed does affect travel but since they are hall stick the deadzones can be set super tiny and they are suprisingly very sensitive and accurate. I might not use them as my go to for FPS shooters, but then again, i've have zero troubles at all playing first person games on them. Played all the way through re7 and re8 on the plane and in an airport during a layover.

It never did, it had a surface temperature problem. Inside thermals where always fine, issue was the shell got too hot for you to hold with your weak human hands. They have since fixed it by changing to plastic/fiberglass composite from aluminum.
