Lotus 49 for me, driving it on Nürburgring with a near perfect lap makes it a good day. I think i enjoy that era of F1 because my dad had a Scalextric with those cars from back in the 60s when he was a kid, fortunately i still have it.

@masterkamen3716 ай бұрын
It isn't so hard driving them as it is trying to race them competitively. Personally I find the Lotus 49 one of the most fun cars to drive, but I can't lap the ring in under about 7:19. A "good" time seems to be between 6:49 and 7:00. Granted, it is faster than Jim Clark's best, but racing it in a sim requires a completely different driving style than what the real drivers used and what I can manage.

Always had a soft spot for the 250F, the version done for Automobilista is probably my favourite iteration of it in a sim, There’s something very tactile with how the modders implemented it making it a real joy to drive.

I remember driving this car in rFactor back in mid 2018 when my PC was shit, even when i only had a keyboard, this car was really easy to get used to and drive, unlike cars from the 1937 GP mod which were impossible to drive unless it was the 2500cc ones.

Well, even in real life, I have yet to read of anyone who had driven a 250F saying ill things about it... in the 1960s a British F3 racer, Charles Lucas, bought one and started racing it in historic racing (not knowing that he actually bought Fangio's 1957 Monaco GP winner). He loved racing the old car. He said that sliding it around Silverstone's Woodcote corner was a "spiritual experience, like touching the hem of God's Nomex..."

These cars on Fat Alfie's tracks such as Feldberg , Battenberg or Deutschland Ring are definitely my favourite AI racing. I like the 6 cylinder and mix it with the 12s. They murder you on the straights but haven't got the torque through the tight sections.

I'd definitely agree with you here. I've always been a fan of racing across the decades and have downloaded tons of old races, cars and so on. There's definitely a lovely feel to the 250F especially on Assetto Corsa. It's a typical old racer and difficult to get to grips with but it has a great feel that you can control once you get the hang of it. And it looks and sounds great too. I'd say it's probably my go-to car for so many tracks.

If you want, you can try out the original mod we made in rFactor, or the only official conversion into Automobilista, to see how we really did it.

hard agree, one of my fav sim racing cars out there. i'd put a few of the richard burns rally cars ahead of it (at least with NGP ofc) but it's prob equal to the formula ford in iracing (surprisingly cus i don't rly like iracing's feel all that much, even with irffb). certainly it's prob my favorite "circuit" car in sim racing, it's what really drew me to drive more older formula cars and they quickly became my favorite to drive.
@raymorgan5806 Жыл бұрын
For me it’s the VF Commodore Supercar on iracing. It’s now a legacy car but I race in a league that still uses it and the BF Falcon Supercar. Iracing should add a note for each update that say - We didn’t do anything to the legacy Supercars because they’re perfect. If you get a chance, have a test drive around Phillip Island as the sun comes up or goes down - it’s glorious. I must investigate assetto corsa more, but stopped AI racing when I got a PC a few years back.

When you were talking about those grip levels is that a good rule of thumb just for classic cars?, or would that apply more broadly to more modern cars, for example GT3’s
@GPLaps Жыл бұрын
I dont have much experience in gt3 cars, but generally modern tires have an optimal pressure/temperature. so before you warm them up you may have less grip with the older tires they generally overheat immediately and will never have “optimal” grip

So if my favourite is the Lancia D50, are we mates or are we opponents? 😊🤝 It's a pity that Assetto Corsa doesn't have all the physics models for all old suspensions, the ORM team who made the 1965, 1958 and recently 1951 F1 mods for rFactor may consider to convert them for AC... and we'd be enjoying the most rewarding race cars ever!
@JCG-Alfamonza7 ай бұрын
Sadly, it's highly unlikely... According to our _Ingegnere,_ there's just a lot of stuff done wrong in AC's physics coding, so much so that he refused to put his work there... It's only either rFactor or Automobilista, at most, the reasoning being that even if their graphics weren't as good, at least a great deal of the physics can be modeled accurately.
