Next video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHazmmmkYqd8gbM My rough estimate is that after I put foil on luba, it went about 120 feet before switching to the vision system. But I would not expect that to help anyone in the real-world. I think it went 120 feet because it still could still get satellite data through the foil, and it wasn't until the house helped block the signal that positioning failed, and vision had to take over. If you have a tree or building the blocks the signal, then it will probably immediately switch to vision. For more Luba content, see my previous video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHazmmmkYqd8gbM

Thank you very much for a propper test! (I believe I might be the guy you are referring to in description :)) Now the question is how Luba 1 behaves with aluminum foil over GPS antena for comparison. I am not much surprised about Luba reporting it sees satelites and coviewing them with RTK station with Signal Quality None: The GPS signal still can go around the foil by being bounced off walls/ground, but the positioning information (that is extracted from relative timing of individual signals) is now partly broken up by the foil and that messes up the signal. What I am surprised about is that despite this, Luba still manages to go another line (and would probably do more, if it werent artificially restricted in software), and am curious myself if its due to camera, or the foil being non-sufficient blocker. A similar test with Luba 1 would probably shed a light on this. Once again, thanks for listening, learning and propper testing!

I'm going to ask Crazypostman on reddit if he wants to make a video with his Luba 1.

I would love it if someone with a single story house could test GPS signals on the Luba from within the garage. My Racelogic VBOX Sport gets 40 something satellites within my garage so you'd think the Luba would see similar.
@RobotMowerTricks7 ай бұрын
I've thought about this, many people ask if they can keep the Luba in the garage. The answer is always "no" or "you'll have to manually drive it to a cutting area before starting the task". If I made a cutting area in the garage, and connected a channel to it, maybe? I need to clean up my garage to test it. It will also be a waiting game as it takes some time for the satellites to move and cause issues.
@sorka950327 ай бұрын
Since the RTK is there to calculate the offset that changes over time, the Luba won't be inaccurate immediately. It will be over the minutes that it takes for the relative GPS position to change.
@RobotMowerTricks7 ай бұрын
I think that's right, but the software is set up to prevent that at (seemingly) all costs so it will stop driving before the software thinks is possible to be "off" by 6 inches or whatever. (Of course it doesn't know if it's off or not, so it's set to simply stop in the event that it 'could' be off.

Good video, any idea how the obstacle avoidance works with smaller items like small to mid size balls, branches, etc…
@RobotMowerTricks7 ай бұрын
I think it basically views anything taller than the bumper as an obstacle and anything shorter is okay to run over. I have not seen anything to convince me that it is identifying objects. Positioning seems to be the only use of vision right now. I think all processing is done on the luba, so I don't know how much it can do, even with updates. I went back to the website the other day to look at the object recognition claims, and it's delightfully vague. A picture indicates it will identify a person, dog, and toys. But it doesn't say it will act differently for each of them, so there's no way to see if it knows a human vs dog vs toy. The toys in the example are very tall , and Luba 1 would go around them anyway if set to level 2 avoidance.

Is the new RTK different than Luba 1 RTK? Is that why you were able to mount in attic? Would it be too hot in a regular attic space for Luba 2's RTK?
@RobotMowerTricks6 ай бұрын
I discuss the heat in my orginal video, but the answer is, it's up to you. Other's with a traditional attic are doing it and no one has reported a probem, but they might keep quiet lol idk. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYrQnaGnj8t-bKc The Luba 2 is a different RTK, but both will work in the attic. I tested my Luba 1 in the yard and in the attic and found it better in the attic. So on Luba 2, I put it up there, it's all in the video I linked to. Using the L bracket/mount right on the peak of your roof is THE BEST way to mount it, but without a solar panel, that's not an option for me.

LOVE these videos! Excuse a new owner question, but if I reposition the RTK higher on the exterior of my house, would that increase accuracy/range? Right now, I have it one side of my house the and Luba 2 gets confused going around the other side of the house (as it's between two houses). Was thinking if I put it on top of the roof it might work better? Does it need line of sight to the recharge station?
@RobotMowerTricks4 ай бұрын
Line of sight makes no difference. The only way to answer your question is to watch the connections page. If the RTK and Luba are connected (I'll bet they are) then that question is answered. Will it increase accuracy? Possibly, the reason why is that accuracy is a result of coviewing satellites. So if RTk can see more satellites, there's a better chance (no guarantee) it will coview more satellites. But if Luba is driving between the houses and only seeing 10 satellites, and it's also coviewing ten satellites, most likely moving the rtk will not change that situation, since the rtk is already coviewing every satellite the Luba can see at that problem spot. I have a theory that vision gets confused when it drives between 2 houses that look similar (I was on a thread awhile back with a guy who has some seriously bizarre behavior and we had him video the mower, and screen record the connections page, and the bizarre behavior started when it switched to vision). So you might find that the satellites have nothing to do with this confusion, Luba might be switching to vision, and the vision is confused. Let me know if that makes sense and/or you have any other questions. There are some mammotion articles on their website about how to understand the connections page. The best one is under luba 1

@@RobotMowerTricks Thank you SO much for taking the time for such a learned response!! Yeah, likely to yr pt it's the vision element that is getting it confused (which is odd as the homes have very different profiles, etc. I have to move my RTK anyway and remap (as my 1st spot wasn't ideal). I've also learned (and mention on these threads) oddly the slowest speed I can stand for mapping tends to create the best results on edge integrity, etc.
@RobotMowerTricks4 ай бұрын
Yes going slow is good for mapping accuracy, and I also stand back if I think that the satellite count is low in a certain area. i don't want to my body to be blocking the satellites in addition to the house/tree/etc. I hope moving the RTK works for you! It's never a bad thing to move it higher/more open.

HI GREAT JOP ....1 QUESTION WILL A LUBA 2 INTERFEAR WITH A LUBA 1 ? CAN I KEEP BOTH ?
@RobotMowerTricks7 ай бұрын
I don't have both. There are people in the Luiba facebook groups with both. I have not heard of any issues keeping both and cannot think of a technical reason they would interfere. Each one will have its own RTK.

For positioning, yes. For obstacle avoidance, no. It works, but it treats humans, tall grass, and trees, all the same. But I'm looking forward to updates.

@@jphill3426 How have you measured the accuracy?
@jphill34267 ай бұрын
@@RobotMowerTricks I haven't measured it. I don't even have a Luba 2 yet. I just have experience using RTK in telecom. Just do some reading on how RTK works. The antenna you have in your attic is the base station and the mower would be the rover. The base station sends corrections to the rover to get it within sub cm accuracy. If your base station is under a roof its location isn't going to be precise. Same when the rover is around trees the accuracy diminishes. Maybe the accuracy is good enough in the attic because I wouldn't imagine this mower needs sub cm accuracy but having it in the attic is indeed degrading the accuracy.

Is this what you need a SIM card for? I’m thinking about getting the 5000H as I’ve mapped out my area at 2.4 acres but hoping this feature will be reliable as there will be obstructions such as trees and a couple of buildings? And although the 5000 is rated at 2.5 acre coverage, I am wondering if there will be some issues with a signal when it is at its furthest point away from the RTK (325 feet). Can you speak to any of this?
@RobotMowerTricks6 ай бұрын
I have no sim card, so no, a sim card does not create this ability, the camera does. The current distance the LoRa signal will go is unknown but no one in the (facebook/reddit) groups I'm in has reported a connection problem between the RTK and the Luba. It's just not an issue. The issue is always co-viewing satellites. They both need to see a good bit of the same sky.
