What on earth is AMD doing here? On my old Vega56 you can literally see the machining marks from when the Die was ground/lapped to perfect flatness. I get that thats necessary with a GPU consisting of 3 Dies (GPU + Memory) on one Substrate but obviously a Die that isnt flat is a problem. So what is the solution for this? I am sure that I have this same problem but its really bad (100C Hotspot) with an RX6700 and it has to be fixed. Literally repasted it a few hours ago with MX4 and yup 100C hotspot 😐 Try different pastes until something works? I have MX6 and Gelid GC Extreme too. In time, after some years when the thermal paste starts to lose it's thermal conductivity, that hotspot temp will skyrocket and cause your card to thermal throttle, eventually causing problems. Interesting video! I've been looking for a solution for this problem that had popped up recently too and there's no specific one. So RMA is the only solution we have for the hotspot. I have a 1080ti for 6 years now and I overclocked it a couple of years back, it didn't throttle or crash once, but when I saw GPU hotspot feature on my HWiNFO, I removed the overclocking and went back to the normal clocks, since this problem has no specific solution.

Liquid metal is a solution. But, it has to be done correctly or you will ruin your GPU. So if you are not comfortable doing it, I would just run the card at stock speeds and maybe play a little with the fan curves using MSI afterburner. Thanks for watching btw 🤙

My Msi GTX 1080 Armor OC heats up quickly in stress tests like Furmark, reaching 80 degrees or more in less than 2 minutes and in demanding games it reaches up to 82 degrees with a high consumption between 180w-200w. I had already cleaned it and applied thermal paste and it is still hot, but at rest with the Msi afterburner curve it stays at 39 degrees at rest but in games and stress tests it gets too hot

@@miguelbaltazar29 Well you already replaced the thermal paste, so not much you can do unless you want to go water cooling. But that would not be worth it for this card. You're pretty much stuck with what you got. Although you could try a different paste.

@@TechnologyHive I cleaned the fans and applied silver thermal paste (the one that comes in 10g) the thermal paste that the graphics card had was dry. I HAVE THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE on my RTX 2060 i have seen reviews of the same exact card before buying it but mine always having a high hotspot with a delta of 15-20+ degrees C than the normal temps which worries me too much and i tried repasting and the paste dries out in the middle and it shows on both the heatsink and dye always completely dry in the middle and the i did try contacting the company that made the card and they said to ignore the hotspot as long as the card is not thermal throttling so for my own peace of mind i had to undervolt it to 0.85V since it can go up to 1.05V .... so yes my heatsink is flat yet the dye isn't perfectly flat and it causes the stupidly high hotspot BTW, my hot spot under full load without any undervolting is 106C in heaven benchmark in less than 1 minute of it running the hotspot difference can be 25C
@TechnologyHive Жыл бұрын
106c is nothing to ignore my friend! 25c is a big jump. One solution I have found is liquid metal. But the cooler base has to be nickel plated to pure copper. This also works for decreasing hotspot issues. Remember also to cover the SMD's around the GPU with nail polish. Preferably a coloured one. This issue with DIE unevenness is nothing new but has become a bit complaisant in the tech environment. I wish bigger channels like Gamers Nexus with a bigger audience would pick up on this issue to perhaps bring about change. I'm just a small channel, so much I can do. Hope this helps
