I read GQ were just teens when they wrote this, and had only played it a few times before they were asked to perform it for a record executive, who heard it only one time then signed them to a record deal. And according to the same source, they only played it ONCE in the studio for the single. Their cover of BILLY STEWART songs are amazing! YOUR OLDSCHOOL FANS STILL LOVE YOU GQ!!! It's a struggle to play this song on bass. You have to leap from the G string to the E string really quick without striking the A string too hard. Easier with a pick. The bassist is not playing with a pick.

I think you’ve misunderstood, I loved this track then (at 13) and I still love this track now... it’s far better than anything I could even imagine... so of course the body is not what it used to be 40 years on but the heart and soul (or should I say funk) is still there... love it... full stop...

Yep. GQ is mostly a one man band nowadays (lead singer Emanuel Rahiem Leblanc) but he still does some shows. Next show is in Phoenix 2/18/24 along with other groups. Tix are on Ticketmaster.
