I was sent this regen kit this week for a test build. This kit will feature as the buildathon kit for the 2015 GQRP convention hosted at Rishworth.

Very well done! You put a lot of love in your building actions. Enjoy listening to the magic of shortwave. Much love, Matthias DL1NDG

Well done Dan, nicely demonstrated. Tweaking the coil core has made mine more lively for sure and having 7MHz in the middle of the swing makes it easier to find the amateur signals.

+Steve Hartley hey Steve, Ditto - have now tweaked mine, its made a huge difference. Also have earthed the front panel to the PCB, that has stabilised it quite a bit. 73 Dan

Great video enjoyed watching it, it took me back to the 80's when I built a short wave radio from a Babani book by R.J.Penfold it used Denco plug-in coils, I spent hours listening to that radio even fitted a simple BFO for sideband, atb John.

+John Wellings Morning John, thank you ! Yes something strangely comforting about shortwave listening. It really takes me back to my youth. I trust you are well. Better get on and meet up soon ! 73 Dan

+John Wellings Hey John, was it this book by any chance ? www.amazon.co.uk/Simple-Short-Wave-Receiver-Construction/dp/0859342204/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1445503812&sr=1-3&keywords=babani+shortwave I used to sell Babani books when i worked in L.F Hanney in Bath.

No it was a supperhet I built and used Denco coils that plug into a valve socket, no coils to make, not sure if the book is still in print as you can't get Denco coils now.

I remember building that myself. I still have my copy of Bob's Electronics Build & Learn and his Babani book CB Projects. I been building stuff since the early 80's and owe Bob Penfold a debt of gratitude for getting me involved in the subject. Almost 40 years on and I still enjoy a good tinker.

What a refreshing change to listen to someone who actually knows what he 's talking about! I'm surprised that he's not been banned off Internet where generally, Internet Gurus & idiots rule.. Excellent stuff... Might go back to my early days and do the same with my horde of valves, tuning caps, Slo Mo drives etc. Today's newcomers might be surprised to know that time was that this type of regen.. receiver but using valves was, the MAIN station receiver for world wide "hamming! AND during WW2, sets of this simplicity provided klandestine links from occupied territory, to Bletchley Park who unravelled them and could tell Montgomery's Desert Foxes, where to point their guns in the African Desert and exactly when to pull the trigger, spoiling Rommel's day a bit!

Nice job Dan - it's amazing how well a regen can work as long as you realize its limitations. 73 - Dino KL0S

Inspirational, Wanting something to do now the evenings are drawing in so I think this may be on the bench for some fun listening. Little disappointed that the Kanga Kits website is down as was going to have a look and see what else they have to offer.

+Chris Colclough Thanks Chris. Yes a great kit for almost instant gratification. Managed to get some decent 40m reception on it last night. Which is pretty good for my home QTH. Speak soon my friend. Dan

Not so sure your the right person to be giving advice about kit building! One of many reasons is your soldering skills leave a lot to be desired.
@ColdestMoon_Channel3 жыл бұрын
Never had a problem with any of my soldering. But, please show us all how you do it. As I’m sure you’re perfect.
@peterarmitage53572 жыл бұрын
I have seen some other videos of yours, my comment references your soldering skills, constant touching and retouching of soldered joints, is it not possible for you to make a good soldered joint first time around?.. the stress you add to electrolitic capacitors as I've seen before is not a good way to teach others???...
