@@booyabooboo6315 Watch in the order they came out and don't watch Genshiken Nidaime because it's garbage. Genshiken -> Genshiken(Ova) -> Genshiken 2

@@gondomar02 Even though Genshiken Nidaime is not as good as 1,2 (Not even fucking close) It's bad to skip it since Madarame's and Kusakabe's relationship will see it's end (Objectively best episodes of Nidaime) so watch it.

Genshiken probably affected my journey as an anime fan more than any other series. I watched a lot of shonen anime but was starting to branch out. I was still very self-conscious about liking anime. As an anime about otaku I could compare it to Lucky Star. The difference being that Lucky Star's art style and *that* opening kept scaring me away even though I was sure I liked the premise of the show's plot. Genshiken was the anime that helped me get over that mental block. As such I have a special place in my heart for the series.

You've definitely hit the nail on the review for this one. When me and my friends were introduced to this show a few years back when it was just coming out, it definitely spoke to us as how each aspect of the culture came back full circle to describe us (especially with me becoming an avid cosplayer). Like you said, the dub does have it's moments that does hurt a little, but it's definitely good with what they were able to do. Definitely a watch like you said and I agree big time. :3

Based upon this review I immediately sought Genshiken and watched both subbed seasons and all of the OVAs in one day. I'm proud to report that it is now one of my favorite anime alongside Berserk and Madoka Magica. Thank you for the recommendation! I honestly would never have experienced this amazing show without you, Arkada!

I think he meant to say that it's getting a third season, which is the reason why i started watching Genshiken only a few days ago just so that i could catch up with the show before the new season starts. One thing i could say about it was that i was pleasently surprised by how much i liked it. It was the same feeling i got from watching welcome to the nhk for the first time, that feeling of now knowing what i'm getting myself into, and then immediately get sucked in and love the show a lot.

I loved the opening because Genshikken was the manga I held close when going through being president of a high school anime club. Seeing that opening really reminded me of what I liked about being in that group and what I loved about the story itself. The comradery.

This anime actually inspired me to start a club in high school, unfortunately it turned into the fundraising club to go to an anime con, but unfortunately as well when we DID watch anime, I was the only one with a desire to critique it. I'm still looking for someone with opinions to co-host a podcast with me

I actually have a club similar to this at my college, although it has about 20 people in comparison to, what looks like about 5 club members. The difference is that most of the people in my club are people who are kind of into all that stuff but are trying to get into it more and find others who enjoy what they enjoy. Its a great club and I've made some great friends from it. I'll probably request that we watch this show just for the lulz :P.

If i remember corectly i saw this one one of those online anime sites and saw the name and thought it sounded cool, so after I clicked the link and read the synopsis I watched it and got hook after the first episode and watched the whole season, ova, season 2. I found myself re watching it on occasion, the dub grows on you and i cant imagine anyone else doing the voices, after a while i was looking for similar anime but decided to read the manga and boy was i glade i did! I read up to the point there they introduced the new generation of characters and i'm still in following it, excited to watch the new Genshiken anime(when i have time and or when it's dubbed). So it's safe to say that Genshiken is one of my all time favorite anime/manga titles

I love Genshiken. I still wish I could be in a club like that. I went to my first comic book convention a few days ago and was strongly reminded of the Comiket episodes of the show. Of course, it was a lot less crowded nd the stuff being sold was nod Doujinshi but official merchandise, but the general atmosphere was the same.

I watch a lot of anime. Seen around 300 different series. I don't consider myself an otaku. I don't cosplay, buy figures, or go to cons. I simply enjoy the medium as a method of storytelling and I consider it an art form at it's best. My life doesn't revolve around anime but I would sorely miss it.

Here's where I'm going to take you on, Arkada-san. There is, in fact, another documentary-like anime about otaku. Though, it's about as realistic as GAINAX...because it is GAINAX. Otaku no Video was really the first show to bring the otaku culture to light, aided through splicing a live-action documentary called "Portrait of an Otaku" within the anime. It is a genuine classic and a personal favorite, as it defines a good majority of sub-cultures. Granted, it's dated and at times bat-shit insane.

You may not think of yourself as an authority but your (many) reviews are fun, if someone from your club will care about reviewing stuff like videogames and modelling on youtube in an enjoyable way you may get more views

sorry but can you do a review of blue submarine no.6 . its kinda old (early 2000 late 90s) but i thought it was enjoyable. it has cg animation that's kinda old so its noticeable but not as noticeable as the second season of last exile which i thought was very noticeable

What got me a little puzzled is that why did they change the characters skin tone making them look lighter in the ova - 3rd season ? When I first saw the first season I liked they're old design but now they're lighter??? Was it because they needed a new look?? Still a good show. :D

I did actually ditch this show first episode some time ago for reasons I dont remember. I think it was in one of this "void soul" times where I watched something awesome and everything I watched afterward for some time appeared to be shit. I think I have done wrong to many shows like that so I may have to pick this one up again.
