GR COROLLA | Perfect OEM+ Fitment With Proper Wheel Spacers | Wheel Spacers
In this video I show and explain how to install wheel spacers on your GR Corolla to get the perfect OEM+ look and fitment. This same procedure can be used on any car to get similar results. While I look for some wheels I like I wanted to do this so the OEM wheels fill the wheel wells better.

Yours is a little different since it doesn't have the wide body kit that mine has. I'm guessing that you have a GR Sport model in Europe somewhere? If so have you seen other install spacers on your same model. I think it's the same body as the standard Corolla hatchback? If so, my first guess would be about the same, as in 15mm spacers all around but you can also measure the space you have from the inner fender to the tire. Use something thin and flat and lay it over your tire/wheel and use it to measure from there to the inner side of the wheel well.

Would 20mm front / 30mm back be too much and cause rubbing?
@jimsgaragetoys
@jimsgaragetoys 11 ай бұрын
Not at stock ride height but they will poke a little bit. the 15mm front / 25mm rear is exactly even but if you run 245/40R18 tires on the stock wheels there is a chance of minor rubbing with an aggressive drop so keep that in mind.

What lugs and lug length did you use for this? I am planning to get extended studs, install slip on spacers 10mm Front / 20 mm Rear (remove oem 10mm spacer) and I don't know if stock lugs will work or not. It is an interim option for me until I decide which wheels I want to get.
@jimsgaragetoys

I didn't want to mess with extended studs if I didn't have to and with these adapters you don't have too. I just used the simple acorn lug nuts that I get from Costco. They are spline drive with a lock key and a set of 20 lug nuts is only $17 in black or chrome.

Yes, I use the OEM lug nuts with my winter set up since the wheels are my OEM wheels. With my summer wheels I use a tapered acorn lug nut as that is what is used with those wheels. Always use the lug nuts that are designed for the specific wheel design.

Good question. At the 3:23 mark I explain how that works. If your wheels have a recessed hole on the back of the wheel hub the studs will be able to extend into those holes and not be an issue if the holes are deep enough for the amount of stud that is extending beyond the spacer. In this case my OEM GR Corolla wheels have this recess and so do my aftermarket winter wheels. Glad that my videos are helping out!

Are you getting more sling of dirt on your doors and wide body? I’m thinking of adding PPF to the wide body piece on the back door to prevent chipping and I don’t have any additional spacers but I am looking to change my wheels out for a nicer summer set and not sure if I’ll use the stock wheels for winter or not 🤔. I use my stock wheels on my 4Runner for winter but those aren’t as nice. I don’t particularly like black wheels but these don’t look too bad. The reason I don’t like them is because IF there is a difference in blackness between the wheel and tire then that bothers me so that needs to be kept on top of with detailing…yes I’m particular like that 😂.

Hey Jim, I found your video through the GRC forum and I have a few questions... 1. For the 15mm spacers you linked, I read some reviews about people complaining about snapping the studs when torquing down to spec. Have you had this issue? 2. Do you think the studs on these spacers are long enough to accommodate aftermarket wheels? There's been a lot of chatter about the OEM studs being too short for aftermarket wheels with conical seats so I'm wondering if putting these on would fix that issue
