Definitely yes to forging/bulletproofing the engine. Even Toyota did something similar to the 2024 model. I want to see that C-Tec turbo. I found almost nothing with a quick search.

The other big weight saving option is to replace the heavy stock seats with racetech/Bride/Sparco race seats etc. my guess is this will save you 10-12kgs either side. And, of course, you need the race seats if you are going to run 4 or 6 point harnesses.
@PIRASMotorsport
@PIRASMotorsport 11 ай бұрын
Nope, this is a misconception: stock seats are actually very low weight, there isn’t much to save if you don’t go down the full carbon 5k each route!

Great content and information Adriano👍, heat management under the bonnet is the area I'm looking at as you know. What are your thoughts on the oiled filters causing issues with the MAF sensor and possible contamination ? The stock paper filter again as I understand flows very well and blocks a lot more dirt. Regards Russ..
@PIRASMotorsport
@PIRASMotorsport 11 ай бұрын
Hello Russ, cheers! I dislike the oiled foam filters: run a BMC one in my custom airbox and works wonders for me. Had a Pipercross for 3000km and it was physically dismembering, and also I had to clean the Maf as the car wasn’t running well. What a waste of money!

Great video - from another Australian viewer! What brand panel filter do you use and what is the benefit of closing the flap?
@PIRASMotorsport
@PIRASMotorsport 11 ай бұрын
+1 Australia, thanks mate! I use any cotton filter: BMC or K&N are both great options. On the stock airbox you can remove the inner labyrinth and try to get more air from front. I don’t like air from the bottom for a number of reasons

Thank you. What do you think of the Forge carbon fibre inlet duct?
@PIRASMotorsport
@PIRASMotorsport 11 ай бұрын
I think that if you are at Stage 1 it can bring some benefits, but probably much less than claimed. Not a great fan of any of the intake options out there at the moment, especially Eventuri fitting that huge intake hose running behind the engine to turbo: that would be good on a hybrid or full frame, but not on stock small compressor

Apart from tunning with ECUtek, what do you recommend changing for stage 1? Considering I would like to keep the car sound the same or really low.
@PIRASMotorsport
@PIRASMotorsport 11 ай бұрын
Yes, I should also make a detailed proposal per each stage… Stage 1 is easy: - GPF removal - Oil radiator OR Hood Vents - Alu shifter cables inserts - Reinforced longitudinal gearbox mount

Hi AJ. Great weight saving with a different battery. When you fitted the Deadweight industries Touge 500 battery, does it fit straight in where the original battery was, or do you need special brackets and bolts to lock it down? Does it connect up to the factory + and - cables? Thanks, John

Hello John, thankyou for your message and support! Yes, the Deadweight Touge 500 has the same shape and connections of the stock unit, so its s quick 1 to 1 exchange of 5 minutes!

Hey Adriano, I have just discovered your channel and am enjoying the GR Yaris content. Are you able to advise which is your preferred intake setup? I see somewhere that you didn’t favour the Eventuri? Thanks, Jeff 🇦🇺
@PIRASMotorsport
@PIRASMotorsport 10 ай бұрын
Hello Jeff, nice to meet you! I’ve developed an intake myself but, unfortunately production costs are too high to sell. This gave me quite some experience on the platform. About the Eventuri, what I like less is the oversize pipe connecting the rear filter down to the turbo cold air housing. On stock turbos, that is too much pressure loss. On larger turbos, hybrid or full frame, it can work

Adriano, you have worried me about your comments on the need for a fully forged bottom end. I’m in the process is installing a full framed turbo with cams and lifters etc, but nobody has recommended touching the bottom end. And I have asked lots of people including the people selling the parts.

Mate, I can write it on headed paper: you need forged pistons and stronger con rods, don’t destroy your engine!!
@matttownsend473
@matttownsend473 11 ай бұрын
Even if i am running on E85? @@PIRASMotorsport there are dozens of videos of people upgrading their turbos on youtube, but i cannot find one video of anyone overhauling their bottom end. The only thing i can think of that supports your view is that in the 2024 Yaris, i believe they are using stronger rods. presumably that's for a reason--but i can't say i've seen any examples of this happening to people who track their car on the weekends like i do. would the race teams have to use the stock parts? presumably not
@PIRASMotorsport

@@PIRASMotorsport Well i have checked with a few people around here and there is an argument about it. One of the guys here runs a 10 second Yaris on a stock bottom end and has had no issues for two years. So, please hit me up with any evidence as to why i should do my bottom end as i will do it if i have to as my g25-550 is being bolted on at the moment. Thank you Adriano!
@matttownsend473
@matttownsend473 10 ай бұрын
I'm not dismissing what you say because the Matt Watson interview of the GR Yaris engineer suggests the new car will have uprated pistons. There is presumably a reason for this, but i cannot work out what it is. I cannot find anyone who has blown their bottom end.

I'd like my GRY to have 17'' wheels and softer suspension for winter driving. No need to add power at very low temperatures and on snow. (it will never have enough power from the factory for dry circuit) The face lift is even stiffer, which is a mistake in my mind. I think they made a mistake by not listening to the proper rally drivers instead developed on some circuit by who knows. The suspension "upgrades" are not good. they should've made it even more hardcore and loose weight by removing unnessessary accessories, lighter battery, delete rear seats, add 17'' wheels, more suspension travel, lighter brakes, revamping the whole dash was totally unsessessary, could've just dropped the seats and add travel to the mirror. Also add more steering wheel travel towards the driver. Add massive mudflaps from the factory so that you don't destroy the side of the car in the first hour of owning one. There's no point in competing with something like golf R with the tech, you're going to loose. But luckily we don't give a shit about parking sensors or cameras just get rid off it all. The face lift is going to cost so much that it's hard to sell them anymore and it's not really any better, you still need to mod some things to make it good. Make it good out of the box, it's not for everyone anyway. Only people who are into this kind of a car will buy it anyway, there's no need to pretend, just make it as close to Rally2 car as possible.

Thankyou for your message: personally I totally agree with You!! I am sorry they stiffened the suspension instead of investing on better dampers, also a lot of expensive additions that aren’t needed… and yes, power is more than enough in low grip conditions, I get a bit of everything thru the year here in northern Italy, not many go fast when the weather is bad. And the torsen’s without preload…
