Anneau du Rhin again... this time the short 3.0km variant. This was in the afternoon when I was improving my laptimes. Chasing a N55 M2 on AR1 and later a Mitsubishi Evo, who overtook me on the straight (Love the "pops", fire and bangs from its exhaust). Unfortunately the Evo spun out. There were no posts and flags at this trackday, so the Mini behind me almost hit him. His follower, a Lotus was not able to avoid a collision. Noone got hurt... but end of Session. I'm sure I would have gotten below 1:27 in that Session....
Car:
Stock suspension with -3 camber front
Protrack 9x18 with Nankang AR-1 in 255/35 18"
Steel brake lines
EBC RP-1 on the front brakes
Pipercross Air Filter
Milltek ECE

It was wet in the morning and I was a lot faster then him (and most others) under those conditions, even on AR-1s Semi Slicks. Lots of fun :)

I don’t think the EVO had stock power, had he? From my experience, the acceleration out of corners should be much closer.

Oh no... It was heavily modified and I heard that it should have way over 500hp... Don't know the exact number though. But it was very fast on the straights

@larsweinand4035
@larsweinand4035 19 күн бұрын

Was für Öl fährst du?

I know..... it's related to the high seating position In the Yaris and me being 1,93m tall... 9-15 isn't comfortable and natural for me, in the GR so I end up with 10-10 instead.

If there is one thing i've learnt from racing, it is consistency, getting a good lap time, then botching the next lap ruins the entire race. You're far better laying back a little bit and being more conservative, safe and consistent, overall, you'll get a better overall race position... unlike the Evo here... haha!

Do you think my 987 Boxster S 3.4L is faster than GR Yaris?
@larsweinand4035
@larsweinand4035 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Borin! I think that highly depends on the track layout and the tires. A friend was there with a Boxter S 252 HP and Cup 2 and he drove a 1.30... If he had gripper and wider AR-1s as well, he would have come closer. Given that the 987 has more HP and other tweaks, it will come closer with tires like Cup2 and might be on par with similar grip tires - at least on this type of track. Hard to tell to be honest. But would be for sure fun to do some laps together ;)

@@larsweinand4035 Great answer thank you. I have been trying to get a test drive in GR Yaris but it is difficult to get one here from dealer due to shortage. I'm currently running MPS4S tyres 235 front and 275 rear, car is completely stock with 310bhp and PDK.
@larsweinand4035
@larsweinand4035 2 жыл бұрын
@@borinvlogs It runs stock on 225s MPS4S... it already has a lot of Grip that way, but adding 255s AR-1s is a different world. Corner speed and grip is really insane. The M2 that I'm following on the first lap is running AR-1s as well and has more power. GR and high grip tires is really a beast in corners, even with stock suspension. But a Porsche is no toy either :) It should be a beast with some real semis

Nice!

nice! how do you read out the data? and when you have compare the stock akebono brake pads vs. the EBC - how do they behave? are they still streetable? how ist the disc life under them?
@larsweinand4035

I'm logging data with Racechrono pro which gets the data from a OBDLink LX adapter via Bluetooth. I export the overlay via greenscreen from Racechrono and put it onto the video from the GoPro. The stock pads were not bad, but they are gone quickly. They might not last a whole trackday. That's for the front... still using stock on the back and they seem to last fine. Still waiting for them to be used up ;) The EBC RP-1 bite more and last a lot longer. I use them since two trackdays and still more then 50% on the pad available. Discs look good too.... Really happy with those pads after two trackdays. I don't use the GR very often on the street, but no problem with the EBC... cold bite might be a bit less then stock, but hardly to notice. And much better when warm. And only little squeeking so far. I'm using the original steel shims with them. Plus: They are cheap! EBC had a 50% sales to introduce the RP line, so got them at stock pads price pretty much :) Don't want to spent a fortune on Endless and not sure what they could do better.
