I need to add my thank you for for putting these out. This really was my favorite show when I was a kid. I really looked forward to it on my way home from School. I met Vick Morrow at a party in Hollywood in 1968. I truly appreciated his acting and his personality, he was also a good director.

In this episode Saunders becomes a day-care worker while Kirby proves why he flunked Basic, and driver training, and an IQ test. So realistic, to argue loudly while engaged in a firefight (which just stops so we can follow the dialogue Kirby is having with his current self-inflicted problem); but THAT's ENTERTAINMENT.

Now, now, back on topic: I think the reason why Morrow was such a damn good actor is because he was a method actor. On the stage, on the big screen, you have to project; on the small screen, Morrow could use his method acting to show introspection... It wasn't a case of, as on the big screen, that you wouldn't act, but let the audience fill in the blanks; but with Morrow, and I think this was because he was a method actor, he really could convey thought. Bravo!

Some episodes of Combat stretch credulity, perhaps. But often, truth is stranger than fiction. I didn't serve, but my Deutsch Ami father joined the Canadians, saw heavy combat in E.T.O., as Spitfire pilot, spent 5 months in a torso cast.Ripped off both wings of a Mark 9 Crashing through trees in Britain 5 weeks before D-Day. He comes south to London, September '44, to get a new plane & find where his squadron & Wing are. V-1 buzz bomb hits across the street & blows in all windows. Then the real killing started, such as Ruhr Pocket, March '45. Strafing & dive bombing. Terrifying ground fire. Nightmares for decades after. What a mess, caused by dirt bags like the Austrian corporal & the Things surrounding him. Watched this show as a juvenile, sometimes with father. Life can be crazy.

Pretty ridiculous and unbelievable episode. Watch for yourself. But again same crazy fighting scenes...unlimited Thompson ammo, Germans usind bushes for cover then leave cover to throw a grenade exposing himself to direct fire, drops grenade (how many times have you seen that?) after being shot, crazy rescue, stealing truck, etc. but great acting as usual by Morrow. Love the series.
@tomjellifer41405 жыл бұрын
Morrow always had unlimited ammo. Although there were ammo carriers that held 5 30 rd clips, he never carries one. The belt he does wear is for M1 clips. He never has any reloads for his pistol on his belt and sometimes he never has one in the gun. When the series first started, Handley was supposed to carry a Thompson, but he complained that it was too heavy, so they gave him a carbine. Morrow also complained about the weight so they built him a Thompson out of wood that he carried in scenes where he didn't have to shoot. When they built this model they put the ejection port on the wrong side.
@TheEvilDrR4 жыл бұрын
@@tomjellifer4140 Actually no. The episode before this Saunders runs out of ammo and has to pull his .45. But the "unlimited ammo" was pretty standard for Hollywood in the '60's. Watch any western from the time. It's even more ridiculous to watch a 6-shooter with unlimited ammo.

Another unlikely mission: locate a couple of medium-sized German guns that haven't yet fired a shot. That leaves only 39, 998 more guns to find. Might have been more sensible to wait till they fired in order to 'locate' them.

So wait until they kill someone before you find them. Hmm, your a military genius.
@Baskerville223 жыл бұрын
@@stanford2444 And you're an idiot. Enemy big guns are 'spotted' by observers of the enemy fire, who then direct the allied guns where to fire to knock them out. It doesn't take a genius to understand that concealed guns can by most easily located when they are in action...

They are supposed to. According to the Geneva Convention medics were non-combatants. They didn't shoot and they weren't shot at.
