Yea, I used a new oil pan. Not entirely necessary, but it came with the baffle from the person I bought it off of.

Did you let the RTV set for any length of time before installing the baffle to the pan or the baffle and pan to the engine?

The Permatex I use is to be installed within 5 minutes or so. So no, I don't let it setup or anything, apply and install. I do give it several hours before adding oil, even though it claims immediate return to service.

It is very close, but doesn't block it. I did some extended mockups off camera.

So at 0:43 when you show the pan with the screw driver in place of the oil pickup tube, which way is forward, left and right? I have a suspicion that the full vertical is actually limiting the overall amount of oil that the pickup has access to IF the gate isn't open.

Could be, either way the thing doesn't help maintain oil pressure at all. See my latest video with the results, if you haven't already.

@@TheBTRGarage - I did! That's why I came back to this video. I suspect the baffle is actually impeding oil return from the left side of the pan to the pickup. Yes, the gate is supposed to open but anything in the flow path is an impedance to the flow (versus no baffle).

Thank you for this. My engine went out 4 months ago. Just got it back last Tuesday. I have to break it in again. I wish Subaru or Toyota would have a fix for it. They need to. It’s under warranty but 4mos is a long time. I don’t want to have a repeat of a rod bearing failure again. I was even thinking of selling my gr86. Love the car.. after watching this. I am keeping the car! You gave me viable option. Thanks again.

You cleaned silicone out of the pickup once before. Did you find any more silicone in the pickup this time?

No, the pickup was perfectly clean. This was actually the 3rd time I've had the pan off. The 2nd time had only a couple tiny specs of silicone in the pickup.

Noticed you have the Jackson Racing anti-dive kit, any thoughts on that?

Not really. Only 3 sessions on track since I installed them and the track was not very good that day (dusty and slow). So it was hard to compare anything to previous sessions. I'll be back to the track this weekend and should be able get a better idea.
