My grandmother has since passed away. Upon cleaning her home I found a box of buttons and needles and pins and thread that she used to use when she sewed our clothes. I put those inside the clear ornament and gave it to all of her grandchildren so that we could hang it on our Christmas tree to remember her every year! 💕

What a thoughtful gift and keepsake. Having that lovely visual reminder of her on your Christmas tree can instantly bring up sweet memories and put a smile on your face. Can you hear your children asking "Why are you smiling Mom?" I find that moments like these often present the perfect opportunity to share a bit about someone who is no longer with us with family members, especially children, helping them get to know and appreciate their ancestors. These quick unplanned moments helps them get to know the people who helped shape you and ultimately them as well. Hopefully, each time they notice the ornament filled with buttons they, too, may think of her again and maybe ask "tell me more about her Mom”. Your kind gesture will keep her alive in hearts and minds for a long time to come. HINT: If the kids are young glue on the top. They may want to hold the ornament as you talk about her. Curiosity may = buttons everywhere if you don't. Plus, holding the ornament will help the new memory you are creating last longer for them. If you have a picture of her, or several from over the years, now would be a great time to share them. Did you realize the heartfelt impact your kind gift could have? You did a great thing.

I was a daycare teacher and one year I asked every child to share with me something important or significant that happened that year. At least 5 things (Mostly what grade they were in, teacher, fave subject) typed them and printed them onto paper that was patterned on one side and white on the other. Cut up their memories into straps had them roll them up to place in the ornament. Then gave them a permanent silver or gold marker to write their name then I wrote the year on the back and attached a little tag that explains the Memory Ornament. The kids then gifted them to their parents

One of my favorite memories was when my daughter was in kindergarten, and each child in the class had to write down on a piece of paper their favorite thing to eat, and the ingredients! Some of the recipes were hysterical, and then the teacher made copies of each recipe, with the child's name on the bottom of the recipe! Then she put the whole book together for each child to give a copy to their Mom for Mother's day! And the spelling of the ingredients was adorable too!

One thing thing I learned is that before you put any acrylic paint inside of any glass ornament, you should rinse them out real well with a mixture a white vinegar and water. Turn them upside down and let them dry overnight. This process helps the paint adhere to the inside of the glass MUCH better than not doing it at all.

Katelyn, I saved all the leftover pieces of fabric, trim, etc from my daughter's wedding and I used them to make Christmas ornaments for their first Christmas together. MINI Babies Wrapped bow, Last 2 Snow, Bow, and had a MINI sign using card stock, laying flat on back so it read BIGGER " WE ARE OTW GRANDMA & GRANDPA!", When she sent me the videos of the Grandparents reading them I CRIED, My kids, Hubby & ALL I showed it too! The couple had tried to have a baby for 6years & had decided that they were Financially Tired, Mentally & just was going to not try anymore....Oh wait did I forget to mention the husband had been injured a month b4 announcement & they soon were going to be living off his military $ and her PART TIME job as she was in school for nursing?!? As we see sometimes God might have other ideas as they had gotten pregnant with twins & they had a boy ^ a girl! Best gift I believe I have ever given anyone outside of my home! Now they do these same clear ornaments using updated pics of them to hold as a tradition! You never know what effect you make on ppls lives by just using ur mind & Heart!

😇💜 Really CUTE ideas. I have always made homemade Christmas ⛄ ornaments for at least 30+ years. One idea for the clear glass ornaments that I have made is, by mixing two or three different colors of paint 🎨 and pour the colors IN the glass ornaments, and swirl the paint 🎨 anyway you want. Then turn the ornament up side down so the paint 🎨 drains out. I would let it dry over night, and then I would tie a ribbon 🎀 at the top of the ornament.☃️🎀❄️🥶🤗💜

I do fluid art. You can put these upside down on a baking rack with a medium-sized canvas from DT under the baking rack. Pour the paint over it the bulb and let the paint flow down to the canvas. Remove the baking rack with the bulbs on them to another area to drip dry. You then tilt the canvas back and forth and you have a matching canvas. That way you don't waste the paint. I do it over DT vases. One recommendation is to not use quite as much of the pouring medium. If the paint has a pourable, but thicker consistency, it allows more of a marbling look. Or if you don't want a matching canvas, simply put a drop cloth type thing under the drying racks, and you can scrape the paint up and put it back in an empty bottle for a future craft.

Take a favorite photo of family members (perhaps those who have passed) and copy it. Roll it up like you did the wrapping paper but unroll it and roll it back the opposite way. Insert it and once inside you can use a skewer stick to unroll it. Since you undid the first roll, the paper doesn't have as much memory and won't be so reluctant to UNROLL once inside. Drop red berries an ever-green sprig, your snowflakes etc. Perhaps a quote, sports logo, hobby icon, personalize it to fit the person either inside or attached and gift it to those who are missing someone this year. All of your ideas were SUPER CUTE Katelyn! Well done! PS. buy those ornaments in bulk on line NOW so you won't miss out. Deliver to store FOR FREE.

Great projects using the ornaments. I have just finish making 5 ornaments where I poured the paint inside. They turned out beautiful. Thanks for giving me some more great ways to decorate the plain ornaments. Have a wonderful day. 🌲🧑🎄⛄️💐

When you pour the medium and acrylic paint over the plastic ornaments, did you seal them once they dried? If so, what did you use?

I personalize them for the girls in work. I use little beads or pearls in different colors and add their initials on the front. Then finish them off with feathers rhinestones and a bow! I love all of your ideas!!

These are cute, looks easy like kids can make them so that gives them some fun crafts to do. They can be put right back on the shelf at Dolar Tree and sell for 1.25! 🎄

I never knew what to do with the little (mason) jar ornaments until now! Thanks for the idea of adding characters - very creative! My nieces and nephews are going to love them!

I have used the clear baubles to gift for a new born baby. Take a photo of the new born, then get it developed into a passport sized picture. Stick two together ( to be seen from all angles) and insert into the bauble. Add a bow round the neck and add a decal or write baby's first Christmas!

Katelyn I just found your channel and am inpressed with your creativity. Now I have to see more so I will be watching older videos. Of course I've subscribed and texted a few friends to check out your channel. On several of the snowglobe style ornaments you added faux snow on your other ornament video. A tip I got from another Christmas video was to wipe the inside of the glass or plastic with a dryer sheet. This helps prevent the snow from clinging to the inside of the glass. It works! Now it looks like snow not a blizzard. I am really enjoying your crafts. Keep them coming. Thanks for sharing.
