I own two Grace M101 micpres and there is not anything they don't make sound good and often better. I love my Graces ! I have several other pres as well....but the Graces are used on every recording session I do..... I could get by with just the Graces perfectly fine.

The M108 has 8 exceptional mic pres. I love mine. While it has many applications, I simply use it as a mic pre and DI for bass, electric guitar (for reamping) and keyboards. It is great on drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitars and vocals.

after the a/d conversion how does one get it to the computer? would it be bad to send the converted analogue signal to another audio interface that has its own bad a/d converters or would it somehow bypass everything except the thunderbolt connection?

HellaHipHop, you can plug the m108 right into your computer via the USB interface. Or yes, you take the digital TOSLINK out of the m108 into your existing interface, which will bypass the A/D of your interface. 2 good options!

I see many of that Persons reading. Btw. don’t compare such products to 1970s recorder, where in a time where you get a 48Khz preamp for 160€ so that product is no „value product“. It’s a very good audio interface but not a goodly good one. I know there are some features that are outstanding such as the Ribbon mic mode but guys common I would rather buy a Focusrite Red 8Pre especially because you can easily expand it to up to 20 196Khz Inputs. This one can only have 12 196Khz Inputs but yeah. And don’t put the Display as a Feature only found in this Interface or the Fact you can Name the Channels.
