This sermon has opened my eyes. I have been a christian for quite some time, but recently I began to be influenced into thinking that I still have to follow the law in order to get to heaven. I now realize that it's not about the law, but it's about the sacrifice of Jesus. If we were to still have to follow the law, then why did Jesus die in the first place? We are saved by grace, not law.

Yes! But also, the Word says to obey the law of the land. There are countless verses about it, so it's a bit confusing at times.
@rll19547 жыл бұрын
Grace is real and relevant. (Ephesians 2:8-9.) But grace does not remove law altogether. We have to obey the Lord, so that puts the Christian under the law of the New Testament. John 14:15; Hebrews 5:9; Matthew 7:21-23, et. al. Francis is talking about the Law of Moses - the Old Testament - which was nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14).

Simply believing on (trusting in) Jesus can actually be a harder walk than law keeping. For many people it seems too easy, the idea of it because they are so used to being brought up in deception! In fact, most of the bible is just displaying how badly we need a savior. Jesus spoke mostly to the Jews (law keepers) because they needed it the most! The blood of Christ cannot be measured. Even the verse of working out your own salvation with fear and trembling is taken out of context when what it really means is just that, unbelievers should have fear and trembling for one, secondly if a person had to keep all the laws to be saved it is a horror movie with a bloody end. It's impossible. God bless, we are saved by grace because we trust in Jesus! :)

WOW, this video changed my life, my outlook on God's Grace, and the BEAUTY OF JESUS soooo precious was His blood. Before I keep trying to work harder, to love more, I knew I was only justifieid by faith but Francis's explanation on how we are to interpret the continual sacrifice of the old testament bulls and goats, the constant shedding of blood and its inadequacy makes us think all that I do is hopeless. We are clanging on our rockHOPELESS!! then came our saviour Jesus whose blood set us free!

Grace is what Jesus did on the cross. BUT you still have to make the choice on weather you want to receive the gift, JESUS said go and sin no more.
@arealchangeiscoming39188 жыл бұрын
For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, 27 but there is a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a burning indignation that is going to consume those in opposition. 28 Anyone who has disregarded the Law of Moses dies without compassion on the testimony of two or three. 29 How much greater punishment do you think a person will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God and who has regarded as of ordinary value the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has outraged the spirit of undeserved kindness with contempt. Esau was BORN with his birth rite. He also LOST it by giving it away for a bowl of stew. Woe to any who thinks he can take advantage of God's undeserved kindness and miss its point.

@arealchangeiscoming39188 жыл бұрын
Just to be on the safe side you better do the works that go along with that 'faith' Faith without works is dead. Jesus himself told his own followers that the one who endures to the end is the one that will be saved. He told Peter that the enemy is seeking him to sift him. In Revelation (Revelation 2:10) Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. Look! The Devil will keep on throwing some of YOU into prison that YOU may be fully put to the test, and that YOU may have tribulation ten days. Prove yourself faithful even to death, and I will give you the crown of life. We ARE NOT SEALED until the day of redemption. We have to put up a hard fight for the faith. As long as we are in this system of things we CAN lose our reward if we become complacent and careless, sit back and take it easy. You will not be able to stand in the wicked day. 1 Corinthians 10:12.

He allows for God to come into the unclean body through the Holy Spirit TO MAKE THE HEART PURE AGAIN. The Grace of Jesus allows to change our hearts...not to continue to defile ourselves. Paul was wrong. Jesus warns of the Benjamite persuading many...even the elect. He appointed Peter...im rolling with Peter all day...Praise the Lord of Lords!!!!!!

Grace changes the heart and mind so many sins we stop because we become aware we are doing them and we want to stop. The desire to be good is there, confession lets us admit we are sinning. Giving us strength to continue on the path to righteousness. Love changes people, but some things take more time than others. But we are saved from the beginning so there is no need to worry. We find the Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness, Kindness, & Faithfulness

The law of Moses wasn't issued to Moses and the Jews for them to follow, it was issued to them so they would know what sin is. But how many trusted in I AM. It all has proven over much time and agony, that there is only one who forgives and justified, just one blood, Jesus.

Christians hate to hear that 'Grace' comes with contingencies. They want the 'Grace' without the exercising of faith that goes with it. They omit that part of the scripture which clearly states: 16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that EVERYONE EXERCISING FAITH in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. What does it mean to exercise faith? Faith without works is dead. If you lack works, you lack faith, if you lack faith then you will not benefit from John 3:16, no matter how much you say you believe. SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES: You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do [the] work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry. Also Hebrews chapter 11. By faith Abraham, when he was tested, as good as offered up Isaac, and the man that had gladly received the promises attempted to offer up [his] only-begotten [son], 18 although it had been said to him: “What will be called ‘your seed’ will be through Isaac.” 19 But he reckoned that God was able to raise him up even from the dead; and from there he did receive him also in an illustrative way. 20 By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob and E′sau concerning things to come. 21 By faith Jacob, when about to die, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped leaning upon the top of his staff. 22 By faith Joseph, nearing his end, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel; and he gave a command concerning his bones. 23 By faith Moses was hid for three months by his parents after his birth, because they saw the young child was beautiful and they did not fear the order of the king. 24 By faith Moses, when grown up, refused to be called the son of the daughter of Phar′aoh, 25 choosing to be ill-treated with the people of God rather than to have the temporary enjoyment of sin, 26 because he esteemed the reproach of the Christ as riches greater than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked intently toward the payment of the reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, but not fearing the anger of the king, for he continued steadfast as seeing the One who is invisible. 28 By faith he had celebrated the passover and the splashing of the blood, that the destroyer might not touch their firstborn ones. 29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land, but on venturing out upon it the Egyptians were swallowed up. 30 By faith the walls of Jer′i·cho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By faith Ra′hab the harlot did not perish with those who acted disobediently, because she received the spies in a peaceable way. 32 And what more shall I say? For the time will fail me if I go on to relate about Gid′e·on, Ba′rak, Samson, Jeph′thah, David as well as Samuel and the [other] prophets, 33 who through faith defeated kingdoms in conflict, effected righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 stayed the force of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from a weak state were made powerful, became valiant in war, routed the armies of foreigners. 35 Women received their dead by resurrection; but other [men] were tortured because they would not accept release by some ransom, in order that they might attain a better resurrection. 36 Yes, others received their trial by mockings and scourgings, indeed, more than that, by bonds and prisons. 37 They were stoned, they were tried, they were sawn asunder, they died by slaughter with the sword, they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, while they were in want, in tribulation, under ill-treatment; 38 and the world was not worthy of them. They wandered about in deserts and mountains and caves and dens of the earth. 39 And yet all these, although they had witness borne to them through their faith, did not get the [fulfillment of the] promise, 40 as God foresaw something better for us, in order that they might not be made perfect apart from us.

The Mystery of the Gospel 1For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: 7Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. 8Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. 13Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

Good works always follow true faith in the Lamb but we are not saved by those works. John 3:5 We cannot be saved without baptism or born of water and the spirit. Baptism is a work to be done.
@2009glories6 жыл бұрын
What you are doing is works and it is, by your understanding, of no value in God's eyes. So, why do it? If grace is all that is needed don't do what you are doing "works". If all are saved by grace you are wasting time. But if we have access to grace by faith then it requires a "work" of faith and is no longer grace, by you own understanding. So, if we are supplying "works of faith" we are expecting God to "pay us". (Romans 5:2) Even the prodigal son had to ask for forgiveness and take that action of going to the Father to ask for forgiveness (he could not just mentally say he was sorry for his sins even though the father might know he is regretting his sins) and the Father was willing to forgive him and take him back. The prodigal son may have expected the Father to take him back at some cost and begged for mercy but the Father was ready to take him back because of Love. The Blessed Mother is full of Grace and if you believe Grace, Grace, Grace, Grace then it follows you are receiving of the Grace of God the Father creating a creation so pure and obedient that she said "yes" when God asked her to be the human connection to bring Jesus into the world so He could suffer and die for our sin and open the gates of heaven to the whole world.

@2009glories6 жыл бұрын
You are not making any sense. To deny you have responsibility for your own sinful actions because you are confusing original sin and the sins we ourselves commit is nonsense. Grace that is totally free and we do not deserve is God's gift that is given even to atheists and even those who persecute Jesus' church and does not require faith or believing in Jesus. However, the "works" that we do, the "acts" of faith, hope and charity that we do, does have an atoning effect on sins we have personally committed. Here, the reference is to original sin we inherited from Adam and Eve. Only God could atone for this original sin and until that great Day of Atonement, all the universe was separated from entering heaven to re-unite with God. God's Grace provided salvation for the world It was salvation by grace and God's covenant of faithfulness to the Jewish nation (not because of our own "works" of faithfulness ) that helped set the stage for the flow of graces of which even gentiles benefit, so we certainly could not boast that we did this (to the Ephesians). ("In the Epistle to the Romans, Paul writes from the point of view of the demonstration of the righteousness of God-His covenant faithfulness and saving justice-in the gospel; the author of Ephesians writes from the perspective of union with Christ, who is the head of the true church.") And Ephesians 2:8-9 says: For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God -- not because of works, lest any man should boast.

Faith itself is work done through Grace. In other words, having faith or the ability to believe in the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ is Grace or the Gift of God Himself. Faith isn't what makes a person saved. It's more of a relational trust from the heart that allows a person to accept what is given to them. How can you receive a gift, if you don't receive it? How can you have eternal salvation if you don't believe it is yours?
@2009glories6 жыл бұрын

Consider Saul before he became Paul. He persecuted christians and certainly did not have faith or believe in Jesus. When Jesus knocked him off his horse and spoke to him, this was most certainly "grace".
@2009glories6 жыл бұрын
Jesus died on the cross to open the doors to heaven that had been closed because of Adam and Eve's original sin that the whole universe inherited. Only God could provide the perfect sacrifice. Even Abraham, who perfectly did God's will even to sacrifice his son obediently, even though he died, could not get into heaven until Jesus died and rose again. The sins we commit personally requires us to be purified before we can be in God's presence. God continues to give grace thru the sacraments, baptism, confirmation, confession and holy communion to name a few, especially in communion, we receive the Body and Blood of the Lamb of God, imparting graces we need to do God's Will. So, in this sense we do get into heaven by grace. What you are doing is works and it is, by your understanding, of no value in God's eyes. So, why do it? If grace is all that is needed don't do what you are doing "works". If all are saved by grace you are wasting time. Christ was the Author of the Leviticus sacrifice system. God doesn't make mistakes. It was a perfect system.... only the Jews didn't take it to heart. The sacrificial system shows the enormity of sin. The law doesn't save anybody but breaking it will certainly get you lost. The law of points out. The law points out sin There's only one definition of sin given in the Bible in Romans and in 1 John it states, sin is transgression from the law. It's impossible for us to keep the law in our own strength, that's why God provides the merging with his divine power which is Grace. Chan is not preaching a message of Saving Grace, His message is one of cheap Grace.
