Discovered her at quintet.. after watching many videos of her, I can only confirm what I saw instantly when she performed against a worldclass opponent like Yuasa. She is worldclass and performs jiu jitsu as a true art. When she’s older I love to see her at ADCC. Please Grace, never go MMA. You were born for this. This is your domain, your world and your life. Much respect from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Big Osu!!!!

She is the first teenage black belt for 10Th Planet at age 18 she started when she was five. She also did a year of wrestling I believe from 17 to 18, she made all American for her age Brooke group. She’s now a Full-time student for some brainiac degree.

I clearly have no idea of what is going on here. This popped up in my suggestions for unknown reasons and I don't know what all the hub ub is about. This is like eeyore wrestling another eeyore. No disrespect, I'm just trying to understand the competition and what the skill sets are.
@markmceathron20134 жыл бұрын
Ya know, this is a legit question and I'm kind of embarrassed by the Jiu-Jitsu world that nobody bothered to answer it for you. You watched a Jiu-Jitsu match. Traditionally, Jiu-Jitsu is done while wearing those pajama looking type clothes you see martial artist wearing in the movies. They call them a Gi (gee). Traditionally, they like to wear the Gi because it, itself, is a whole set of tools for the combatant to use. You can grab into the clothes and use them to manipulate your opponent. No-gi Jiu-Jitsu takes that away. You have to control your opponents body without the aid of their clothing. A lot like wrestlers do. Most main stream Jiu-Jitsu matches are based upon scoring points. Like, wrestling. Points for take downs, points for escapes, position and so on. But this match was submission only. You only win when your opponent submits. So, the object is to choke them or wrench a joint so much that they have to surrender or face serious injury. Unfortunately, this sport is really only entertaining for those who practice it and understand what is happening. Everyone else only see what you saw. A lot of (what appears to be) no action, and girls rolling around doing not much of anything. A lot of that is due to the high level of skill each one has. If you know how a joint lock works, you know how to stop it. If you know how a hold works, you know how to escape it. More importantly, you know how to prevent an opponent from getting one. So, when there are two really talented people going at it, it looks really really slow. The truth is, if you know what you're looking at, there is a LOT going on ands it's really hard to keep up with. Anyways, that's what you saw, and I'm sorry that nobody respected the question enough to answer it earlier. It's not much of a spectator sport. There are some organizations out there that have rule sets that try to push the action more, so that it becomes more spectator friendly, and brings more people into the sport. It's incredibly fun, and challenging, and I absolutely love it. If there is a gym near you, I can't recommend checking it out enough. One of the amazing things about Jiu-Jitsu is that it will humble you. You lose all the time. It will break your ego. But that's why the people you meet there, are not pompous ego maniacs with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. By the time you earn your first belt promotion, you've proven all you need to prove to yourself about what kind of person you are. I hope you get a chance to go check it out.
