Well well Grace has done it again, she has managed to come up with another song that has come from a situation she was in. According to her live feed today she wrote it with Kinetics during a writing session in between shooting Moonlight video it seems she was a little pissed she could't do everything she wanted in the video and she got a little pep talk about that. To all those who say this is not a grace song you are so wrong. Grace is doing exactly what she has said she wanted to do, she has said all along that the up coming album will be more produced and with a little bit tech here and there and this song shows that. As others have said Grace is evolving as an artist and a person and as a teenager her tastes and thoughts will change rapidly and therefor so will the songs she plays and releases. The words of the song are so true particularly for a teenager who knows her self better than anyone else, she may be wrong about that, but this is part of any teens growing up they always know better. I like the song a lot it may not be the best she has done but it is undoubtedly Grace and shows the evolution. I am really looking forward to her album and particularly the studio version of Burned. Sorry for the ramblings

What's best with Grace and that 'tech' in her new music is that the tech is simple tech: no artificial pitch alterations (aka 'auto-tune') and no robotic vocals... just a bit of echo applied and things like that along with more instruments played. I think the world is going to be amazed and shocked at the same time, when Disney and Grace Collaborate on semi secret Projects. Her exposure to the Media has quietly hyped her... and TV Personalities are Super Glad to meet her. I think Grace is an Upgrade for the Entertainment Industry and revives the Disney Magic. They are a Perfect Match. But FIRST is Grace's NEXT Album. My household can't WAIT to HEAR it. I'm SURE it will burn-up the Internet. Oh my God. 2018 I was on vacation in London, my first trip to the UK. There I discovered the cutest shop ever, Cath Kidston, every time I saw one, I had to take a look at all the wonderful dresses, cups and other stuff they sell in their shops. In one of the shops, this song was played. I exactly remember this feeling of happiness, amazement and wonder when I roamed around the shop, listening to the song and being in another country all alone without my parents. I tried to remember the lyrics by heart, but when I searched for them after I got home, I just couldn't find the song. I searched for two years every now and then, but never forgot about it though it seemed it was impossible to find. TILL TODAY. I randomly searched through my music folder and discovered grace vanderwaals song moonlight, and decided to look up some more songs from her. When I first listened to "just the beginning" I dismissed this song, "insane sometimes", and "just a crush". Six months later, I've reviewed all three. Man, vocally Grace does stuff here and in "just a crush" that is cooler than in most her other songs. And "insane sometime's" more relaxed vibe foreshadows her chill phase now. The moral - listen closely to EVERY Grace song because there is going to be SOMETHING In each one that will impress you. There are no clunkers or cringeworthy moments to be had.

Not sure if you know it already or not but anyway this basically is a song about music industry and more precisely about Grace's experiments when making the Moonlight music video as it was a big struggle getting things done more her way. She revealed this info at least on her recent Instagram Questions & Answers livestream that can be found on FanderWaal News' KZbin channel at least. P. S. Andrew Goodwin also commented here 3 days ago the following (and I think it's a nice catch, too): "I dream in the night just see the darkness of your eyes" is a reference to Moonlight, and "I see stars, you just see holes in the sky" is a reference to Light the Sky.

I think most of her songs run deeper than she intended. I strongly suspect that a teacher once (or more than once) told her that she wasn't trying. And in her song I Don't Know My Name, she said she is trying, she's trying to find her way.

We did read how this song came about, she was told that she couldn't have everything that she wanted in the video so then she got a little bratty and a talking to, so thats how the song came about. Since Simon has her on his label, he should've fired her ass. Then she would know to keep her big mouth shut and listen to the PROFESSIONALS! If she keeps on with this attitude, no one would want to hire her.

Yeah, many reactions to this song (along with many reactions to multiple of her other songs, too) underline the fact Grace is so much beyond her years, as many young fans get mad at her for not understanding what it actually means to be a real artist and talent. They have sadly got used to artificially produced puppet show 'ragdolls' etc. with weak characters. That's why they may seem to stay the same more than Grace to their eyes, as the music industry takes a strong hold of 'em and puts 'em into a mold for as long time as possible - just the power of the drugs is a limit. But then there's Grace who isn't clay, is sick of being told of what she should know, and rumbling that you better not to play with fire unless you want to get burned; you're already burned.
