I'm struggling right now between Paul and James which definitely contradict each other. It's almost as if James read the letter to the Romans and disagreed with it (faith alone vs. faith + works). Also, James writes like a judgmental preacher to me. If there is an argument between Paul and James, I choose Paul anytime of the day.

Right Division is required for understanding. We many time quote Ephesians 2:8-9 and leave off verse 10 which is key IMHO. As new creatures in Christ Ephesians 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Read james 1:1 blues man 63. They do contradict one another because james was not writing to us. Neither was peter or john. They like Christ were ministers of the circumcision, Paul was to the heathen. (Us)

They don't contradict. And changing a dispensation for the book of James to "solve" the problem is even worst, because then you admit they contradict and God is a respecter of persons on that view.
