Yes, please share how you fostered a love of reading with your kids! I have a 2-year-old and a 4-month-old, so I'm definitely wanting to make sure I'm getting on the right track. 😊

I like how you hold a good balance of having oversight and guiding what they read while also giving them choices and freedom within that. That's definitely something I want to learn from and implement as my girls get older.

I have 10 children, 14 down to 1 and my oldest 5 are now AVID readers! I can’t screen everything they read in advance, so we discuss their fun books as they’re reading them and they know to come to me with anything questionable! Passing the books we read aloud around for each to take turns reading is a MEGA blessing here!!!

One way that I think helps develop kids that love to read, is seeing their mom and dad reading. ❤️

Thanks for sharing! I agree, it's so nice that the good and the beautiful has the screened book list ... has helped me so much!

Oh I agree! My twin girls are 19, and we continue to read books out loud. We all absolutely love sharing that time together.

Never giving up read alouds either! We read 2 read alouds as well- we do sonlight or bookshark for history and we'll read that read aloud and then one that is not related to history whether that's a missionary story or a fun book that's part of a series.

Thanks so much for this series! I'm interested in personal quiet times for your kids and favorite Bibles (for you and for your kids). Also, favorite mom encouragement books you recommend.

This is what we do as well- we use TGTB for language arts so they do the reader from TGTB along with another chapter book.

I wanted to add, I was never a reader until I had a college, yes college, teacher did a read aloud at the end of every class! I had never had that kind of experience that I could remember. I haven’t stopped reading since. I did want to ask, did you do a reading log for preschool/kindergarten/1st? We read all day, randomly, and I feel it would be daunting to try to write all the books that I read for my littles. They are 5, 3 and 1. If so, any help on how would be greatly appreciated!

Love this video! I tweaked your idea of a reading log and made a checklist of all the books I want them to read for the school year (basically whatever’s on their level). Then they check off the title as they read it and get another off the list for the next book. Helps me with the decision fatigue of “What do I need to read next, Mom?” 🤪

I am having trouble finding the book lists of what you read each year on the blog. I see the ‘books, books, books’ lists & others but not a yearly record of what they read. Is that on there? If so, and you have time, could you add a link to those please? Thank you!

@@GraceandGrit Thank you! I am a mom of toddlers so we haven’t been exposed to much of these, except for the last point. Lots of that in baby/toddler books recently 😖
