I like how we are going back to homes that are decorated one object at a time. A design that will last the test of time.

I feel fortunate in being very comfortable in doing what I like whether it’s a current trend or not. We hung velvet mustard colored drapes long before they were a trend and I loved them. After we had hardwood floors installed (what we liked not what everyone was doing) the dining room light was to be something more modern and in style. Nope. Decided I liked what we already had. Never had painted furniture or anything gray. Just didn’t really like for our house. Lots of homes with lots of styles are beautiful. We all need to be true to ourselves and make our homes for ourselves. Love your home as it looks very family oriented and welcoming.

I think as we have gone through period of being more at home due to COVID that many have felt overwhelmed by the “stuff” in their homes. I am amazed at the number of KZbinrs that continually purge and still buy the latest items. I have always enjoyed making our home OURS. And not a magazine spread. Social media has had a big influence on keeping up with others and feeling of FOMO. I also think that as we age we are recalling our childhood homes, and that they were not necessarily picture perfect but hopefully we’re welcoming to the family and others. What goes around comes around, it just cycles again.

I buy what makes my home feel homey. It could be a thrifted treasure, antique, shabby, farmhouse, or colorful. Most of my decor has traveled with me throughout my forty-seven years of marriage. I usually repaint and repurpose an item when I get the itch for something new. I enjoy changing the look with a coat of paint and wallpaper. I'm comfortable after being an empty nester for two years.

You have nailed how the older generation is sick of mass produced home decor. In the last several years I have started to fill my home with antiques and artisan pieces. This was a great, informative video. Thank you for sharing!

Classic furniture has been coming back for awhile, only now the younger generation has discovered the appeal which makes acquiring it harder for those that have always appreciated it!

My home is a wonderful mix of things I love and that make me happy. That will always be my trend. I have modern and eclectic as well as wood and metal, marble and velvet. Everything goes and it looks fabulous. We are doing a new build and are doing our fireplace wall with a light stone and over grout. Quartz on our countertops and backsplash, no grout to clean will be nice.

Hi Sarah! Just appreciate your online space so much- you keep it real and applicable to the average person. Good luck with your 2025 goals!!! I’m setting a few myself (haven’t done so in a hot minute), but the most important is the “word” I’m concentrating on for 2025-and that’s “consistency “. I’m focusing on the application of that word in all aspects of my life, so wish me luck!
@debraburgess27642 күн бұрын
Good luck with your plan to set the intention of consistency. That is something I be always had great difficulty with. Will take vitamins 3 weeks then stop , same with lots of things. Have lived with depression for years so attribute lack of consistency to that. I find it easier if items on my daily to do lists, motivates me more.

You can do it! Consistency is such an amazing skill in so many areas of life.

So we are updating our whole home this year, one room at a time. No walls being added or taken down, more like a facelift. New flooring throughout the entire house, ceilings, two bathrooms down to the studs (I lied, we are adding a couple half walls) anyway, my question for you is this…..you mentioned a couple of times “if it fits the style of your home”, I feel confused by that. Would that only apply if you have say a Spanish style exterior or something like that??
@marinascheiner2240Күн бұрын

I really enjoyed this video, I’ve always wanted my home to feel welcoming for not only family, but guests too! I don’t see the point in having a house where everyone is too scared to sit down or move just in case they wrinkle the settee 😂. My thoughts are in spaces where I welcome people in to my home, I want that space to feel peaceful and inoffensive lol, in private spaces like your bedroom, use them if you want to be a bit more daring with colour etc. I always remember as a girl going in to my aunties house and her lounge walls were bright pink and bright red, if you love that then that’s fine but I always felt stressed visiting her because I found the colour pallet so overwhelming 🤷♀️, as I grew got married and had a family of my own, my thoughts were always that, I didn’t want a home that people dreaded visiting, like I did my aunties house 🤷♀️, so I like my home comfy, cosy and homey but still interesting 😊 (sorry that was a really long comment 🤦🏼♀️😂)

the most influential aspect of interior design trends is they dictate what is available to consumers at the shops. Unless you have access to thrift/vintage items, the trending colours are what is available for each season.

I don’t know of any specific colors off the top of my head, but your best bet is to go and grab 4 to 5 samples and sample it directly in your hallway. Your lighting and the other colors in your home will directly impact how the color looks in your space. That’s the easiest way to find one you love!
