You should add another shoe cabinet!

I would move the shoe cabinet to the wall where the stool is, and move the stool and rug under the window or under the pegs.

I love the maroon! I wish I had a space like yours. My suggestion would be to move the shoe rack against the wall where you are thinking to add more pegs. Then move the stool and rug to the wall under the window? Whatever you decide it will be awesome 🤩

Came here to comment this too! The shoe rack looks like it would fit perfectly in the spot where you have the stool and rug right now. And the stool and rug can be moved to either under the pegs or a different part of the room.

Looks nice and organized...for now, BUT if my kids lived there they would have already bumped the shoe rack and the crock would be in pieces on the floor. I would move the shoe storage to the other wall so that the small stool would be under the pegs. But that's me.

I would line the inside of the drawers with white shelf liner so I could easily swap it when it gets dirty from shoes.

This is what I did. The main door that every body comes in is very very small & narrow. There is also stairs leading to the basement. My kids would leave their shoes all over and not to the side. Finally I had enough when I tripped over them and nearly down the stair. After that I would state "Who's shoes?" If no one would come, I would throw them outside. They learn quickly!

So pretty and organized! Great work! I’m so envious as I’ve never had a mudroom and dirt is very attracted to my children. I think I would try to train my kids to put their coats away and still add more pegs for guests. Nice job!

Move the shoe cabinet over to the wall where the stool is & free up the pegs. I’d do that. The kids won’t sit on that stool anyway but they will throw their coats on the floor if they can’t get to a peg easily. Well… mine probably would. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I thought about that but it impedes the tall cabinets. We all use the stool daily to put our shoes on so having it under the coats didn’t work well when we had it that way before. Funny how each family uses spaces so differently!☺️

@@GraceInMySpace I wondered if the tall cabinet door closest to the wall would bump into the shoe cabinet. That would be an issue. You def. don’t want the finish on either piece getting dinged up from the start. While I never wanted my home to look like a museum, (as if with 2 active boys in the house that would be in the realm of possibility) it would probably aggravate me if right after a big, beautiful renovation like yours, the cabinets started showing wear & tear right away. It will happen over time, but I’m sure you’ve used good quality paint & the finishes should hold up for years to come. I’m excited to see the finished kitchen, as I’m sure you are. Any timeline on when we can expect to see a kitchen update?

Yep, the coats should definitely go into the wardrobe. You spent so much time making that space look nice, why trash it up with coats, etc.

So what do you store in the wall units from IKEA? Everything looks so nice.

Those hold coats, hats, gloves snow pants, extra toilet paper, swim towels, ball caps..and more!

What if you pushed the shoe cabinet all the way to the left of your peg rack, that way all the coats could be hung to the right and not be so visable? BTW I loved seeing you in a magazine I subscribe to Country Sampler.
