Hi Grace, I came across your videos after seeing a news article on the Daily Post website. Seeing your videos a few days ago actually inspired and encouraged me to dig out my old mountaineering gear, and this morning I walked up to the summit of Y Garn in the Glyderau. I started hill walking back in 1997, but haven’t been up the hills for almost 10 years. At 57 years old, I surprised myself at how fit I still am this morning - all thanks to your videos.

Brilliant video, thank you so much. It brought back a lot of memories of 40 years ago when I was a lot fitter. I only did Crib Goch once and it was foggy. We didn’t realise how steep the sides were until we saw the postcards in the old station gift shop at the top. Many thanks again, Mike in Sheffield.

Nice one Grace. The Snowdon horseshoe via CG was my first ever walk in wales back in November 2016. Did it solo and couldn’t see a thing🙄. Conditions were incredible for you. Hoorah for you. Crib Goch is the one place (well, maybe also Sharp Edge in the Lakes) where I wouldn't lead groups of kids because I'd be too busy watching for my own safety. Great views back down the ridge (you can sense that relief!) and of the clouds below - thank you. Might be little relief to you now, but that shoulder route up Pen yr Ole Wen is a lot more stabilised now than a while back. Tricky coming down in the dark. I'm glad you got down safely. Try the loop back down to the river and along the lake in the daylight sometime. Longer, but probably quicker, as there's a lot less scrambling. Happy walking in the new year.

@@searchingfortruth587 and who are you to complain? yes camping is illegal but it's tolerated in some places, take the lake district for example they actually promote wild camping on their website, and I wild camp in Wales a lot and no locals have ever had a problem with it, even if its their land, maybe because like most wild campers I camp on public access land or as close to it as I can, if anything they enjoy coming over for a chat, I have even had land owners come up to me and say it's okay to stay but they are just letting me know they are letting their sheep out soon and they might get a bit curious of the tent, and that is land owners that actually run camping sites on some of their fields but still perfectly happy for me and others to wild camp free of charge on land they don't use or only use for their sheep. And as for mountains they are public access so if a member of public wants to walk/climb up and down then they have every right to whether you like it or not
@michaeleddison67653 жыл бұрын
@@searchingfortruth587 there are loads of dangerous activities on KZbin, should we not have, let's say kayaking videos incase someone sees it gets a kayak and drowns, or what about football videos cause what if someone wants to give it ago and trips and breaks their neck? And mountain law is not a thing lol mountain rescue may issue advice but that's all it is advice, it's not law and no one has to follow the advice. And as for real law I very much doubt you have never broken a law as the law is very complex and some laws are out dated, apparently its still illegal to hoover your home on a Sunday. And like I said no one has ever had a problem with me camping and i bet the only people that do are people that don't even own the land they just don't like others enjoying the area

Lovely video. Coming down Pen Yr Ole Wen South Face in the dark (and alone) was potentially a serious mistake and should if at all possible be avoided. Any frost or ice makes the descent vicious. Great climb up but completing the Pen Yr Ole Wen, Myndd Davidd and Myndd Llewelyn Loop is the safest and most rewarding route. I don't know when you actually did the climb but I also did Pen Yr Ole Wen on December 21st and the cloud inversion and weather were spectacular - I thought I was on Mont Blanc!
@GracesAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Yeah wasn’t ideal but like I said - didn’t fancy following an unknown route in the dark (there is no route on OS maps for the loop down the other side) so just had to go with that route down. Will definitely avoid in future! I did it last Saturday 🙌🏻
@colinyzfr13 жыл бұрын
carnedd dafydd and carnedd llewelyn loop would have been crazy in the dark especially dropping down to ffynnon llygwy reservoir. would of gone to the true summit of pen yr ole wen then down the well trodden path on the east ridge slight 20 foot scramble then follow river down to A5.

Have not been on a mountain for 30 years due to severe health problems but like you are doing I collected as many memmories as possible, keep going and keep posting. Had over 200 crossings of Grib Goch but the most beautiful and memorable was above a red tinted inversion (could not resist your video when I saw Crib Goch and inversion in the title) I can guarantee that that is a memory you will have for decades. My memory also included emerging from the immersion on Snowdon just as, coincidentally a good friend, at that time, emerged from the other side together with his dog. Mountain memories never go away, dont ever stop.
