Nice video, one of my favourite walks. If you do go back in better weather and fancy a slightly longer walk then I'd definitely recommend starting at the carpark at Blaen y Glyn Isaf, then you can follow the waterfalls upstream to the memorial on Cerrig Edmwnt (wreckage of a crashed Canadian bomber from WW2) and then along to Fan-y-Big from there, then do your walk in reverse back to Taf Fechan and then back along an old railway track. It's a nice round trip, about 13 miles. Probably best done on a longer summer day though :)

Remeber the first time coming off the flat top peak after wild camping in a snowy storm. it was so dark,wet and foggy couldnt tell which way we came , spent hours walking the top trying to decide which way to take. After hours of walking by luck we ended up back at the car. loved every second of it. keep up the good videos . =)

Great video Grace - and a great effort in not so nice weather. Just a few pointers towards pronunciation of the peak names. Corn Du, say it as Corn Dee. Fan Y Big, say it as Van Uh Beeg. just one comment for you to contemplate. if you use a phone for navigation without a paper map and compass, what happensif your battery fails or a malfunction with the phone? use a map/compass, the Beacons are no place to get lost on.

what happens if the map blows away?
@garymartin5574 жыл бұрын
@@TheAlanb85 if you need to ask that question, you certainly would not understand the answer.
@TheAlanb854 жыл бұрын
@@garymartin557 the important thing is to have a backup. No point having a map and compass if you are not skilled in their use. Nothing wrong with a phone and a cashed GPS map as long as you have a backup. I quite often use two phones. They are waterproof and reliable technologies that can absolutely be used appropriately. Garmin essentially make phones without the SIM card and sell them as electronic mapping solutions.
@garymartin5574 жыл бұрын
@@TheAlanb85 if you read my comment on her earlier video i said use a phone as a backup. map/compass is the default setting alongside the ability to use them. it appears many people use a phone as a primary source of navigation. the local river rescue service to me uses the same mantra as myself. whilst it would be a little egotistic to say the method i employ is the be all and end all of navigation, it is a valid one to consider. i am not a nanny state advocate, go out enjoy the outdoors, but be aware of the pitfalls of relying on tech based solutions. you are correct in saying nothing wrong with a phone, but what my point is that they are useless without electron flow from a battery.
@GracesAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary. As Alan said, no point me having a map and compass when I can’t use one yet 😅 but after my previous video I booked a Nav course which is in January - so look forward to being more skilled up then!
