So pleased you enjoyed our beautiful country and for your own interest, we call them jandals, not flip flops :). If ya ever make it back, try the top of Takaka hill at the top of the South Island which was used as the location for Chetwood Forest. Love the videos.

I live if new zealand and I have always wanted to do cosplay in a convention if that's how you spell it and I wish I could cosplay but in new zealand aparantly your supposed to be 16 and it will hate me so many years so I'm sad

I've lived in NZ and AUST and the USA and the one big difference is in Australia and New Zealand there isnt Private Property or keep out signs anywhere, i got a real shock in America, when people are constantly worried if they are on government land or private land,i don't know if its the lack of guns in NZ and Aus but when you are in the great outdoors if its not fenced off, its considered open to all, also if you sped Zonbis videos up by 1.5 in the options section,you would swear it was Madyewlook

There are plenty of guns in New Zealand, you only have to register pistols - riffles and shotguns are a free for all.

Funny thing for being a New Zealander myself I find it hard to pronounced the names as well😅. But great cosplay and love the location of the photos going to have to go there sometimes😁

Dude! Mad props for moving about barefoot in, what I am assuming is, ice cold weather! Your poor Hobbit feets must have been like ice cubes after this O_O (The photos are amazing though).

there are some kind of silicone feet thingy that glue on your feet and protect you from sharp edges/rocks/etc....idk where to find em but...those exist, also they won't show in photos since they're glued on the feet. just look up feet stickers / anti slip beach sock and you should find em

New Zealand airlines have the coolest in flight safety demonstrations, they are all hobbit and lord of the rings themed and acted so pretty much the only time you see people actually wanting to watch them.

Was your first location at the lowest hut on the Turoa ski village side? That's the MUAC hut, you can stay there (and several of the other huts). You can also talk to the range office at the army base and get access to the volcanic plains over by the dessert road where some of the big establishing shots were taken.

It looked like you had a lot of fun- Hopefully you will visit some of the other film locations as well as Weta Workshop. Some of the set pieces from Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit have been rebuilt for the public to visit. Also remember that in NZ flip flops are called Jandals.

If you're confident enough in your driving ability, driving the length of the two main islands is a real treat. Plenty of towns to stop in along the way too :) I've done it several times.

OMG JEALOUS!!! Grace, don't feel bad - I'm 44 in 8 days, and if I had the opportunity to go I'd totally pack my Ringwraith costume. (Although I might have trouble getting the sword and morningstar through customs.) And I'd be listening to the soundtracks the whole time I was driving. Let's see....16 hour flight time. Layover....extended versions of Hobbit & LotR.
