When I was a cab driver in Houston, TX, I got hijacked at gunpoint by two guys who, not satisfied with taking all my money, pistol whipped me and ordered me to drive. The one with the gun was in the back seat behind me gripping the back of my head by the hair with one hand, and held the gun to my head in his other hand. The unarmed one sat in the passenger side of the bench seat. I knew where they meant to go and what my chances were of coming home if we got there. Cooperating with them, as I had been, wasn't working. So, although we were going maybe 15-20 miles an hour I knew that's fast enough that slamming on the brakes pitched them forward while I went for the door. It was locked. _I forgot they had locked it!_ I thought I had just sealed my own doom as they realized what happened and started to react. So I floored the cab, aiming us straight for the picture window of a house. The car bashed up over the curb and sidewalk and onto the lawn. At the last instant, I turned sharply, hit a fence post, then smacked into a parked car before skidding to a stop in an intersection, surrounded by honking cars. Their headlights lit up the place and, in slow motion, I watched my hand unlock and open the door. I saw the bright orange and yellow flames billow beside my head and I smelled the burned gunpowder as I ducked down, rolled out and ran. Did they just shoot me? I immediately felt the back of my head -- it came back bloody but my skull was intact, the blood was from being hit with the pistol! Time sped back up and I've never been so grateful just to be alive. It seemed like I could feel my lungs exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide as I breathed. I don't know what lessons might be learned from that experience. I've thought about it quite a bit in the decades since and I can see it easily could have ended very differently. But I did survive it so there might be some good information there. They made a mistake leaving me in control of the car, I think, but it was probably a bigger mistake to crack me in the head for no reason and kidnap me. At the time, Houston cab drivers were getting killed about once every 11 days and the sickening feeling I was about to be murdered was strong motivation to try to get out of there. My plan to hit the brakes hard worked exactly as intended -- but forgetting about the locked door was just about fatal. Crashing the car wasn't so much to get away as a decision that, if I was going to die that night, then I was going to die on my terms -- and take them with me. I honestly wasn't thinking I could escape that way but I'm glad it worked or that way. Thanks for that video, you guys! You're addressing a situation that, unfortunately, isn't at all far-fetched.

It's good to see someone is broaching the subject on this. Who is to say this will or won't work? Yes, in a real life or death situation this would be allot more chaotic, punches would probably be thrown and the first attempt may or may not work, but when your life counts on it these are good tools to have in your tool belt...even if you have better ones like a a weapon. In the end it's a good idea and good for practice.

Thanks for sharing this and the Violent Ride Sharing video. I had a cousin that was abducted from a parking deck at work one morning in NC in 2006. She was taken outside the city and killed. I will definitely share these with as many people as possible. I am a firearms and concealed carry handgun instructor and help teach a monthly handgun class for women at my gun club. I believe in and encourage total defense training (I took Judo when I was younger so know very well how effective these hold are). Interesting this was done at Ramstein AFB. I lived in that area for 9 years. Largest American community outside the U.S.

About causing or risking a car to crash, if you are abducted, you are driven away at speed, and likely at speed making it dangerous to crash. I would suggest doing that in traffic or near traffic light at low speed. It also has the advantage of getting attention from cars nearby when cars are all around you.

I love the whole Gracie system, but this is so advanced that a person is calm enough to think about where there hand grips will be if a person has a knife or gun. 6 seconds going to sleep is six stabs or shots firing at your gut. Your best advice here is jumping out or crashing it as she said at the ending. But much respect

Thank you for another helpful video! Sharing this great art is amazing! I also share these with my buddies at work. For the answer I would pick BJJ for my art, because I am a smaller guy who would most likely do the same thing you guys are doing. Share the arts to make a decent living, but not boxing for millions. I would want to gain the experience of earning that black belt, rather then just getting one over night. Great questions guys! Keep up the BJJ discussions.

Try pulling the seatbelt really fast it will lock up within 2 inches of you pulling it. This is to prevent the body from projecting forward from the Speed of the car or from a unexpected crash. I would suggest that You practice this a If you times to find the right speed without the seatbelt locking up guarantee if you go to fast it will automatically lock up within a couple inches of you pulling it

Whatever dude, the only strategy against multiple attackers is to run away, you can't run a way while being kept in a car, so just do what you can, attack the driver so you might stop the vehicle, crash it or whatever, being held captive by multiple guys, most likely stronger than you and possibly armed is a done deal, you'll either get very lucky or you die.

Hi, BJJ purple belt here under Marcelo Garcia in NYC, I love the art as much as anyone, LITERALLY. However, "GJJ" is not the answer to everything or every situation, not by a long shot LMAO. The Gracies though would have you believe otherwise. It's naive and at the same time arrogant to believe that "GJJ" is the answer to every single situation known to mankind. Yes, BJJ or "GJJ" is popular right now and everyone and their grandmother seems to want to jump into it, From the US military to The Vatican priests. Saw a "Gracie Breakdown" video of a street fight between motorists that took place on the side of the highway where one driver got jumped by two other drivers and ended up getting knocked the fuck out. Guess what Rener Gracie tried to sell us? Yep, "Gracie Jiu Jitsu" LMAO. He actually advocated GOING TO THE GROUND in a 2 on 1 situation on the street. What kind of BULLSHIT is that?
@kanguessokang9918
@kanguessokang9918 10 жыл бұрын
johnheiden14p BS, He never admits that in a 3 against 1 situation, BJJ is very limited and may even get you seriously fucked up because most of the techniques involve you getting cliched up with your opponent and that's the fucking point here. If it ends up on the ground and you go for an armbar, what are the other 2 guys doing? Remember, it's 2 or 3 against 1, are they just standing there while you are going for an armlock? LOL, you'd be stomped to death.

Kanguesso Kang So you're a purple belt, now I've only had some army combatives training a couple years ago and a little bjj in the past so I really don't know when I ask this. So you are saying that BJJ won't teach you how to disengage and get out of there? I mean if I'm in a 2+ on 1 I'm not thinking about ego or anything like that. I just want to haul ass. If I've gotta fight then so be it. Also doesn't bjj teach some kicks, punches etc? I mean I remember seeing that being taught in a bjj class once. Although there wasn't much of it compared to say Muay Thai (which most people were also taking). I plan on starting bjj again in the near future, I don't believe it has every answer in the book, but then again I don't think anybody has that.
@kanguessokang9918
@kanguessokang9918 9 жыл бұрын
Mark Wilson There are a few misconceptions that need to be addressed. One, "BJJ" gears almost 100% of its techniques towards a tournament or sport setting where the practitioners do not expect to be struck, it's a controlled environment that follows certain rules and regulations agreed upon or set by a BJJ governing body and it expects its athletes to follow and comply with it. "GJJ" Gracie Jiu Jitsu's main philosophy or goal however is street self defense. it aims to address unforeseen situations in the street except instead of worrying about points and victories as one would in sport BJJ, you'd worry about life saving techniques. My problem however, is that the Gracie's, especially the older generation of Gracie's think GJJ is limitless and can address every single situation and can be applied everywhere and anywhere.

What are the other secrets? I think Gracie should share their knowledge with the world. If they don't, then how will jiu-jitsu flourish. I think it is strange to keep it a secret. If Eddie Bravo kept the rubber guard a secret, how would it have evolved into the badass system it is today?

Eve and Rener probably fight like that every night to see who does the dishes. In about 15 years from now they'll be fighting like that to see if Rener will get some that night. That's when it's gonna get real.

I doubt eve could ever get close to rener at 100% unless he was old enough and had health issues. She is good, and could whip any dude's ass on the street, but not that good.

Chris Vozzella yeah not 4th degree, gracie grandson, much larger person. Usually he last part has no bearing, but when they're trained it would make a difference.
