Thanks for posting. Good breakdown of the forms from a Gracie perspective. Rolled with a guy from a Gracie school in Canada this past weekend and had a great time. My background is quite different, so we had a different approach on things and we were similar size (I'm heavier and stronger, but not lots) and both a little over a year of training, but it was a fantastic time. 25 minute flow roll with moderate intensity. Lots of these methods showing up and he had excellent guard retention. His physical conditioning was also very good, unlike mine. Haha. He was more technique driven and I was more position driven (although being smaller and much fresher, he often took top position). Always fun to learn from others on the mats!

This is definitely one of the very few Gracie Combatives tests i have seen that was not bad :) you did pretty well apart from many very small mistakes that are expected from white belts and that 99% of white and blue belts just do because they have not trained enough years. ( Mainly going for something and losing control for 1second mid move or not being tight enough). Overall you did a lot better than almost everyone else i have seen doing this test. Its the first time i give a thumbs up to someone doing this test in 21 years ;)

bravo. and well coached. the BB is providing the exact amount of realistic feedback to ensure the student is doing the moves correctly. Well done all around and very impressive for a white belt.

You'll be fine, just break it down into each position and take it one at a time. Use the videos on the website to make sure you're grasping the finer details of each move. You got this!

Is this to get your blue belt?
@zjw5
@zjw5 11 ай бұрын
This is to get your "combatives" belt, which is not the same as a blue belt. It is passing the beginner curriculum. I think blue belt typically takes another 6months to a year from here.

This was the test that got you Gracie Blue belt but Rickson stepped in and said : " Guys this brings shame to gracie name you cant give blue belt for demonstrating technique on video" So Renner had to adapt and invented the combatives belt that only exists in Gracie schools

Are you still training? BJJ Blue Belt now? Still testing for combatives? Was this Army Combatives belt testing? My professor does not test for belts. All of these techniques are required and some are trained more than others, but hearing called out and displayed is a different perspective.

@@khao4577 They wanted Sambo (boevoe version), because of the strikes and armed techniques, but there were not enough instructors in the US so Matt Larsen convinced the commission that Gracie Jiu Jítsu was equivalent and (this part is just my opinion) Brazil is a long time allied, so they created a program based on it. After Afghanistan though they had to include more stand up and other combatives methods because of human bombs and knives, but yeah basically the army does jiu jítsu.

You lack common sense grass hopper. You won't have a gun on you all the time. And knowing how to excape and counter headlocks and bully holds and common attacks by untrained attackersis a great extra skill along side your fire arm. Just ask any cop.
