Our Gracie, in her final but one movie Molly And Me. An out of work actress deciedes to act as an experienced housekeeper in order to get a job as the butler is doing the same trick. Mr Graham, their employer is a retired divorced politican, who is estranged from his son. For Mr Graham and his son life is never going to be the same again, the housekeeper causing havoc and handling a sensitive situation, brings father and son, much closer, in a troubled relationship. This film was in an American archive, and I got this released on Dvd in 2005. The film is public domain.Gracie made 4 films in Hollywood, and was as popular in the states as she was in the UK. The new 4 set cd THE REAL GRACIE FIELDS CONTAINS 105 TRACKS 60 ARE all first on cd RARE RADIO TV soundtracks the ULTIMATE collection to treasure for always........

And a production code that would be called politically correct government censorship today. I can’t imagine a single actor of note in this film advocating that only films like this should be made to the exclusion of the films we have today with far more realistic storytelling and portrayals of life as it is actually lived then or now.

I don't know how I missed seeing this before now (2022)? This was really good! Recognized a very young Roddy McDowall instantly. The more I heard her voice I finally recognized "Mrs. Howell" from Gilligan's Island. LOL! This was really good and not to over the top with slap-stick or gratuitous comedy. I really enjoyed the sting at the end. I was holding my breathe thinking Mrs. Graham was going to come back to the room and bust them. That's what contemporary movie/TV plots and writers would have done - just to add unnecessary drama and drag things out. I could see this being a TV show. Then again, today's writers, producers and networks would muck it up with violence, profanity, sex and g issues. Better to leave a classic well enough alone. Thanx for posting this!!!

🙄 There are excellent films and television programs being produced today, especially in television. I love these older films, grew up on them on television, but I so tire of people saying it was so much better than now. There was a helluva lot trash then too, and whatever its pleasures, it isn’t as though this film is a pinnacle of the craft. Maybe you need to be more discreet in what you choose to watch.

Simpler years? Really? Do you know what the world was like and had just gone through when this was released in 1945? Millions slaughtered, most of them innocent civilians. And that is considering “just” the war. The only thing simpler about 1945 is the figment of that world that you’ve conjured in your own mind.

I can’t remember what it was called. So I’m hooked and now watching this film. I haven’t watched tv in over a year and don’t miss it. These amazing, wonderful films are such a pleasure to watch with brilliant acting and an actual storyline, instead of sex, drugs, cgi, or violence. Gracie was a superstar concert performer in her heyday, a professional singer all her life. As popular in the UK as Barbara Streisand or Judy Garland in America. She retired a wealthy woman from her concert earnings ( and her films),to a clifftop manse overlooking the sea on the coast of Italy I think it was. Where she played host to the greats of the day, around a type of very long " infinity swimming pool."

I have been a fn of "Your Gracie" for quite a while. She was indeed refreshing and fun, and this film is a great vehicle for her soul. Gardiner is ALWAYS fine whether he is wrking with Chaplin, Jerry Lewis or Gracie. Monty Wooley has long been a favorite here in the Colonies. (Cole Porter loved the guys humor, and he shines in this picture) Roddy has always had my respect and what a wonderful talent he had. As an actor he got better and better and passed way too soon. A lady resident with dementia we had in, her dad had worked behind the scenes in films back then, and Gracie Fields had known this lady when she was a child, (who will have visited the sets with her dad), and apparently took her by the hand to walk, in between filming. I absolutely love this movie! Seen it at least a hundred times. And, each time at the end, I want them to be getting together. .... Maybe?

What a Wonderful, Enjoyable movie! I didnt see the cast of actors, but absolutely recognized in the role of the son was a very, young Roddy McDowell. If I'm not mistaken he also while young had a major role in The National Velvet Movie with stunning and beautiful young Elizabeth Taylor. They remained good friends throughout their lives. Keep up the good work and look forward to more excellent movies of this calibre!🎥🎬👍👍♥️♥️👍👍
