@sakrich if you have had any jiujitsu classes would know when learning the neck hug variation of the Americana you shoot the back hook this keeps you from being trap and rolled. If they remove either let arm go and do hips and hands(superman) or reinsert hook again. I guarantee you wouldn't roll me just because I went for neck hug variation Americana or transitioned to the arm triangle. with back hook in and arm around neck this is a basic mount control called anchor and base.

When sprawling out (this helps against the bigger opponents naturally) get a near 90 degree angle. When applying the choke, it is imperative that the hand that was hugging the opponents neck is the TOP HAND. Ralen showed it in the video, To add extra pressure, crank the top hand towards your body along with your opponents' head. But, be careful! My friend didn't talk to me for a week.

@schubbel It depends! Can you be more specific with " A sidechoke"! do you mean when you put pressure with the blade of your forearm on the oppentents neck from sidemount? If so then it's not the same thing! But if you mean something else please tell me! ;=

Is not a random pass, for instance when you pass the guard and take side control is a good idea to stop and take a deep breath, the first thing the guy on bottom is going to do is freak out and try to shrimp, if you stay heavy he will stay stuck in your side control, no sweep. The pauses help stabilize yourself from the other grappler when you are doing live rolling, but at the end every person develops it's own jiu jitsu so you might not like the pauses and that's ok :) I personally like them.

#1, don't get mounted lol, when in mount keep your arms in tight. Try to get the arm back around their head. When they try to turn away from you, turn back toward them, getting back to guard if possible. if while setting up the choke, you can sweep them you should be able to nutralize the choke by haviing a top position. these are my first thoughts at least...

How do you keep the mounted guy from "rolling" you over to the non-Americana side? Especially if he follows you with his hips...
@SyPer84
@SyPer84 9 жыл бұрын
The guy on his back can't roll the guy on top because the guy on top has his base is grounded to the side. It would be the bottom guys back muscles against the top guys whole body.

Once someone is mounted on you ... all I can say is "upa!" or bridge hard, make sure to take at leas one of the 4 points (wrap around his arm with yours and bridge to that side) that should get you in his guard, still dangerous but better than mount

I heard about someone with multiple limbs, imagine if all those limbs were fully working, like extra hands. I think they'd be an unstoppable force in MMA. Not even BJJ could save you. Like that baby from China if its limbs were fully working, you could grapple with him and restrain his arms and he'd still be able to swing at you. Also he'd be able to do one hell of a juggling act.

Well, sounds like you are sitll too "brand new" for Jiu Jitsu. Like I said before, if you know what you are doing, you are safe... you will know how to counter the opponent's counter... Just ask Roger Gracie, he submitted all his opponents in the last World Championship using a choke from the mount position, some of those chokes having his arm behind the opponent's neck. I'm sure that all the guys he submitted were "good opponents".
