A song by four of the greatest rock musicians ever assembled that has, by many people, become known as the greatest rock song of all times.

Yep. So true man, many have heard Stairway hundreds of times and maybe there are periods of time when we don't want to hear it again for a while but man it so is the greatest rock song ever. (IMHO)

That poetry, and the mystery of it, makes the song---more than a party song. One has to study the history surrounding that time--what was going on politically, culturally, and so forth. Yet, to me, the words transcend that era because of the wisdom in that poetry. I am 67 yo, 68 in a couple of months, and I grew up with this song. The ending of the song speaks to how much the West was opening up to the wisdom of the East, with its meditation traditions, and, even in Christianity, a more mystical approach that balances with the rational approach or teachings/knowledge/wisdom. This piece is really good music and good poetry and good spiritual glimmering.

The song is mysterious but there is a basic meaning at one level. There are two ways you can go through life. 1. Through the materialist way, trying to purchase happiness 2. The other way is through a more spiritual path.

LED ZEPPELIN, "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN". In 1973, my sophomore year in Highschool. This song was considered the best song ever written. As I recall the generation of students that surrounded me. Clearly became unified because of the music that engulfed us. Leading with this song. We realized we were in the midst of music greatest groups. It all all started with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Animals, Bob Dylan, Leading the way of the far out 60'S. Into the Groovy 70'S with the future of music brilliance still to come. Hopefully the youth realizes how lucky we all are.

I love the lyrics on this. Your view on this song is very special. You know that a long time ago there were people who said that if you listen to this record backwards, there are satanic messages in it? I never used to like this type of music, but a friend insisted that I listen to it, for weeks. He said I had to do it with headphones. I finally agreed. And by the end of the song, I wanted to know more music from Led Zeppelin. :) ❤

As if the music doesn't seem heaven sent enough, Robert Plant later admitted that he sat writing the words while Jimmy strummed it out and when he saw what he'd been writing he 'nearly leapt out of the chair!' Probably one of the most played songs ever and the one for which they are most identified - Increasingly, in Plant's view, to the detriment of their other material!

It's hard to remember that they're only men- we called them gods- rock gods, because they seemed to hear and know things we had never heard before. It makes you wonder.

I heard Plant is really kind too, I’m sure if not being mobbed by fans they are. They still have a huge fan base, but I don’t think we’d be chasing etc. them. We’d be just happy to see them, & let them know we love their music, & them.
