Actually, my dad owned this game when it first came out and played it a lot way before I was even born. I remember him coming home from work when I was around 5-6 years old and he would put the 30 lives or something cheat and we would play until we got up to the ice level and couldn't beat it for the life of us lol. Years later (around 14), after not playing for ages, I rebooted the game up on my own time and beat it in one shot and my dad, who never saw the ending before in his life, was so amazed that I could. Definitely an awesome moment of my life as a kid

@@Ognyan397Both the NES and Famicom sounds identically the same on 2A03 sound hardware. The only difference in the NES compared to the Famicom is the lack of a VRC2 mapper chip included on the Famicom cart which adds an intro cutscene and sprite improvement on environmental backgrounds which makes the NES Contra a downgraded version of the original Famicom Contra but they still share the same gameplay and sound.

Same, while I do love modern games. There is always something from retro games that came out from the NES/SNES era that make me want to play them. Whether it is the difficulty, how much they pushed the hardware to the limits, the music, or if it is such a good game that you can forget it is an old game.

Wow, that's a surprising use of samples for the NES. I didn't realize how much they were used
