Hi Mandy! My son is really enjoying Fix-it Grammar this year! I am fine with Robin Hood, but we are really, really picky about literature. For example, we don’t read anything with magic, and my son is extremely sensitive to other types of content. I’ve never read Mowgli, the book level 4 is based on. Would you have time to give me some insight into the plot/content of that one?

Could Apologia Chemistry be used by a secular world view family? We have used TGATB Language arts and Science easily. I just skip the creation mentions in the curriculum. Could the same be done with the apologia high school Science or is it heavy on the creation theory? Thank you.

I can’t really say, since everyone has a different level on something like that. You’d need to probably look at sample pages and/or email the company and talk to them to get a good feel for the material and then make a judgement call.

I was hoping to hear how Teaching the Classics worked out for you. Did you end up not using it? If not why? I'm looking at it seriously but not sure I want to invest the $$$.

We didn’t use TTC with my oldest, we used it with my youngest. We read 3 books throughout the year with that method and really enjoyed it.

Going into 9th, what level structure and style would you start? We are coming from Christian light education

We were new to IEW this year with a 9th grader and started in level B with Structure and Style. It is a good fit.

IEW looks so intimidating…maybe one of you sweet mamas can do a “how to” or a quick “this is how it works”

I think the same thing about IEW. I just cannot wrap my brain around how it works but I hear such great things. I'd also love to see a "how-to" video.

I have to agree. My daughter tried IEW but it was daunting. While she is only in 7th, we have REALLY enjoyed our new Writing curriculum, Essentials in Writing. You might want to consider checking it out.
