Hello sir and thanks a lot for this informative video. On the last question, they want acceleration right. Couldn't we have just substituteed our tension that we already got minus kinetic friction =5×a then we divide by 5 both sides instead of having these two equations
@MlungisiNkosi2 жыл бұрын
That works
@theekhaex18023 жыл бұрын
Mr Nkosi. The past paper question you did, why is it kinetic friction and not static friction?
@itztanatswa52373 жыл бұрын
more of the same. Fs and Fk will always be equal to μk.N Hopefully that makes sense
@MlungisiNkosi3 жыл бұрын
So static friction is when you have a stationery object and kinetic friction is for moving. Both are calculated in the same way but the coefficients would be different.

Sir after calculating tension is it possible to get your final answer as nagative tension
@MlungisiNkosi2 жыл бұрын
If done correctly, what you should get is the magnitude of the tension (which is positive) because you've already compensated for direction in the initial step

how do we know if our Tension should be positive or Negative, Because you sometimes say "it is going down, therefore, is Positive" while on other questions you say "It is going down then it will take negative"

Thank you, when do you add or subtract forces?
@MlungisiNkosi3 жыл бұрын
Remember forces are vector quantities. Vector quantities have magnitude and direction. Suppose we choose a particular direction (say downwards) to be positive, it will mean every force that is downwards will be positive and every force pushing or pulling upwards will be negative. By definition Fnet or Fres is the vector SUM of force. Therefore, we will add forces and take direction into consideration. I hope that's clear
