2:10 book says build on this Proceeds to shred random solo Not that it was bad. It was upsettingly good. But I actually think you would have lost marks in an exam because it’s not what they want. But hey, who gives a shit? It’s an exam.

Hassan Bajwa who are you speaking for, exactly? The above solo is not what who wants? The book says build on it. He built on it. He built an appropriate technical solo for a metal song using melodic arpeggios with clean sweep picking technique. Gorgeous execution. By the sounds of your comment, at this point you couldn’t do the same. And that’s okay. But this performance would deserve top marks for great, appropriate playing. If you can’t shred A.K.A play at a higher BPM and utilise a sweeping motion with your right hand, then when can you?

Dean Amer wow, that’s kind of weird that you’re so upset for someone else. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the solo, quite the opposite in fact, and you’re right, although your tone annoys me, I am not that good. But fact is the book wanted a specific thing, based heavily on what they wrote. And the examiners may not have accepted the solo above because it is just too different. What’s the big deal? I complimented him, stop crying.

Hassan Bajwa no not upset for him.. I genuinely have no idea who he is.. The ‘anti-shred’ mentality - almost ALWAYS shared by those who cannot ‘shred’ - is a toxic mentality that definitely does upset me. Had he have played at a BPM that you could manage and with techniques more commonly grasped, you’d have said nothing. Your ‘compliment’ was spread thinly amongst a disheartened shredder who by the looks of it doesn’t want to accept that this level of playing is to be envied, and such envy breeds fight and a similar result. Yes there’s a place for technical playing, and it typically exists largely in metal music, of which this genre stems from. Great playing, doubt highly he’d have “lost marks” because he didn’t play worse than he could have.

Dean Amer wtf? Stfu and read my comment carefully! “Anti-shred mentality”? You fucking skitzo, no. His shredding was insane and something that if I took guitar more seriously, would certainly aim to work towards, his playing is as clean as a whistle and some of the best I have ever seen. My only point of note was that it wasn’t in accordance with the notation of the book. So sit down and shut up and stop talking rubbish. Also, “disheartened shredder”? I never even spoke negatively about quality, just content and how well that fits. Get a life.
