I got out of the baseball card collecting in the early 90s. When the big companies started to make sub-sets and specialty cards, it just became a wealthy adult hobby. I think the last common rookie card that everyone was looking for was Ken Griffey Jr, Upper Deck. Now to get that coveted rookie card it has to be a Bowman Chrome, red refractor, signed and only 10 made. No way in the world can a 10 year old kid get a hold of something like this.

No it’s not. You have ignorants who think a psa 10 that gems 80% of the time over say Griffey Jr that gems 4% F the grading or auto or #d or signed. BFD these never haves at 8k Give me 4 gem mint JRS who are in the 4%. And if grading doesn’t matter- which I agree- anything 2020 on is junk wax slabbed. Take your 80-% gems mints. I heard maybe 4 names who will make the HOF Or that doesn’t matter? Nah 2 cups coffee is a 10k red refractor topps chrome bgs 9.5 #d /25. Yeah he is far better than Tony Gwynn. Jr. Etc This should be what an Fn joke people spend this money!!! How will they profit????????????

Awesome video! I'm SO happy to see that us Bowman Chrome collectors still choose BGS gems over that PSA garbage.... all my chrome rookie autos are in BGS slabs and that will never change...

The Bowman autographs do look nice in the BGS cases. I like them in the PSA cases as well though, but I am PSA collector after all 😆

@PSACOLLECTOR HAHA... Right! I didn't mean it like that.... back in the day, the BGS true gem was like the best thing to have for bowman chrome stuff. It literally looked weird to see them in a psa slab and it wasn't worth as much... over time, the psa 10 has separated itself from a bgs gem by such a wide gap that everyone wants stuff in a psa 10 slab... but not me...

I don't get how these new cards of players who haven't played very much in the league are selling for more than the old vintage cards of guys who are Hall of Famers I guess I just collected vintage cards more than I do the new stuff you spend all that money on those new cards and if those guys get a career-ending injury you lost all your money

Apples and oranges. You can't compare a red refractor of say Machado, who is clearly on a HOF track with a vintage HOF psa 7/8 etc. There are only 5 of those cards. Just think about that for a while.

The definition of a rookie card (for veteran collectors) is a players first appearance on a card by a major manufacturer regardless if they played in a Major League game yet. That would be the Bowman 1st rookie card. Cheers!
