I feel like Jamo's production is more a B-/B, while his pure receiving stats aren't amazing he's been critical to that offense, from his success on sweeps, taking defenses attentions away off the top (opening up the field for AMSB, Laporta, Reynolds and Gibbs to be more efficient on check downs) and has done a ton in the way of blocking. Many of the Lions long touchdowns were results of Jamo's downfield blocking, even taking out two defenders on Monty's 75yd TD.

Every time I turn on the film, every down, I am stunned by his level of effort he gives. Even some of the better pass rushers in the league give tells with their play; with Hutchinson it is truly hard to determine because his switch is always on. I guarantee you the lineman guarding him doesn't enjoy contending with that. Nothing against Walker, but there's no question in my mind who I'd rather take for my football team of the two today. Players who play with boundless energy like Hutchinson are extremely hard to come by and set the tone for your football. I would love to see a regrading of draft classes from 4 or 5 years ago. That would be entertaining.
@mayorkeystone30949 ай бұрын
I would argue against the Jameson Williams C-, I think an incomplete would be better but look at the conference championship game, he had 67 yards and 2 tds on 3 touches (3 total targets, 2 catches and one run). The problem is he is schemed in a way that they aren't giving him the volume to really be the big play maker he was drafted as. He is often the deep threat that allows for Laporta and St Brown to work the inside of the field, despite rarely getting a chance to make a play on those balls (and often Jared misses him when he doesn't break it open). I dont think its an A or even necessarily a B grade, but C- seems a little too low.

Man I can easily see Hutch getting 16 to 20 sacks this year up to 200 pressures especially with the edition of DJ Reeder and Marcus Davenport and also a collective of new DB Carlton Davis III, Amik Robertson. Not to mention the draft as we been hitting 80% of our draft and those rookies were ready day 1. Man Lions and going to be dangerous this year.

And the fact that he can zone cover a tight end and man cover some of them too is straight insane at his size. On another note, I'd like to see him be used more in Spys and I formations. I imagine his size might be the reason why he isn't, but that would be cool. You can do so much with his physical toolset. Did he deserve to be a top 3 pick? Absolutely not. But top 5? Top 10? Why not, he's too athletically gifted and polished in run defense for him to at the very least be starting caliber most of his career. While it wasn't a slam dunk pick, he wasn't the worst choice for the first overall pick.
@loganearp23389 ай бұрын
@@kimyona9746 yea i wasnt a Travon fan tho full transparency proved me wrong spy could work he seems to usually run a contain but one thing id say is when hes played 3T it works wonders so if we were to somehow get a better pass rusher like Danielle and try out Travon whos had proven success in pass rushing and run defense at 3T in Georgia it could make a serious DL and fill a hole that my Jags desperately need filled
@kimyona97469 ай бұрын
@@loganearp2338 absolutely. He's built to be a 3 tech/spy/run d guy. He's not a boundary pass rusher at this time. He'd probably excel more as a middle linebacker than a 4-3 edge rusher/3-4 boundary pass rusher if he weighed 250 instead of 270. His skillset would make him just go through all the guards with those arms being 36 inches and with his speed to power ratio, he would dominate guards. While the potential to be a boundary pass rusher is there. His skillset would just make him so much better in those non-traditional roles. He's a middle linebacker the size of a 3-4 end that can 3-tech he's gonna be insane with all them stunts and semi-interior pass rush things

I agree Dotson may have been taken a bit early, but also think his numbers would be better in his first two seasons with better QB play. I see a pass on that is given to guys like Drake London and Garrett Wilson. But let's be honest ... having Heinicke, Wentz and/or Howell throw you the ball is no better than having Desmond Ridder or Zach Wilson as your QB.

Only rating I disagree with is Dotson vs Williams, I definitely think Dotson should be higher than him. Williams has had way more consistent QB play and play calling. Dotson also has an alpha with Terry McLaurin above him but Dotson has still been able to produce. I understand Williams was injured for most of his first year, but I also think his suspension this year should be considered in his grade, he missed games for something that was completely in his control. Based on the expectation I think Williams should be an F, and Dotson I'd have somewhere in the C's.

Sauce & Hutch are generational players. The fact 2 defensive players were taken in front of them baffles me.
@j.r.39458 ай бұрын
In fairness to Kayvon he was in a scheme that didn’t fit him where pass rushers always struggle and he was playing from behind A LOT he was also getting double teamed every other play because there was nobody on the opposite side for the offenses to worry about with azeez ojulari injured almost every game. The scheme change should benefit him a ton and he could also benefit from a lot of time in the weight room getting his lower body stronger

The Wonderlic test and 40-yard dash are 2 of the most overrated measurables at the combine. How many great players had their draft stock hurt by them, and how many busts had great ones.

Damn... its crazy how Hutch went from 55 pressures to 110 but sacks only went up by 2. 33 QB hits is nuts though. Kayvon had 44 pressures? Not even in the same realm as Hutch.
