The trade market was fascinating this year. When plenty of teams saw opportunities in a draft class that had depth as its calling card, and others saw the Rams getting rewarded for their NBA-style "fuck them picks" dice roll, you had the potential for a super active trade market. Throw in a sharp increase in the collective valuation of WRs (and at least one team who saw that as a selling opportunity), and that potential was realised in quite remarkable fashion after the slow start.

As an Eagles fan, Jordan Davis went to his perfect match. He doesn’t have to worry about being a 3-down DT yet since he gets to be in a rotation with Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave who are super good at drawing double teams on their own. Also, anyone who follows the Eagles knows that they love to bring in big and athletic guys and mold them into quality pieces for their trenches. Just look at how well Jordan Mailata has worked out. I’m so excited about AJ Brown being an Eagle, and I was jumping around excited like a child when I saw the news. The Eagles have needed a veteran presence in the wide receiver room for far too long, and they got one who’s currently only 24, has made a pro bowl, and all without giving up any future picks. He also fits the big, physical X receiver the offense needed as a complement to DeVonta Smith. It’s also so wholesome to see how close AJ and Jalen Hurts have been over the years and how they now are on the same team. This isn’t the Howie Roseman that drafted Jalen Reagor two years ago. I think the fan backlash has clearly gotten to him, and he’s made a ton of quality moves since trading Carson Wentz to set this team up for a bright future, regardless if Hurts is the guy king term or not. I’m also STUNNED that we got Nakobe Dean in the THIRD ROUND. I’m not sure if I should be more stunned that he fell that far or that a team that is notorious for not investing much in the linebacker position was the team to pick him up. Either way I’m excited for the season and for our future. FLY EAGLES FLY!

As a Bills fan, I feel like our team completely manhandled the draft and very few people realize it. In the first round we drafted a CB with Richard Shermans body type and play style but Josh Allens growth mindset. In the second we grabbed Dalvin Cooks brother, the best YAC HB in the draft to give to Josh Allen whose receivers were last in the NFL in YAC last season. In the third they drafted a LB who appears to be a perfect genetic duplicate of Matt Milano to be Matt Milanos backup. In the 5th they got one of the drafts best athletic freak WRs in Kalil Shakir who is also a YAC machine. And in the 6th they replaced their atrocious punter with punt god Araiza. Matt Haack was abominable for the Bills at punter which is good for how frequently they used him. Now imagine the one time a game you get Josh Allen to punt and you get the field completely flipped on you? Sneaky good draft that filled a ton of holes across the roster.

@robertcrawford14212 жыл бұрын
Exactly. We would've probably picked Watson at 22 or 28 if we went WR, but we addressed our defense, which just got even better, and got our guy at 34. After watching this video, I went ahead and clicked on the 2017 draft revisit which, unsurprisingly, had a link to your original 2017 draft video. I now understand why you started this video with, "This will not age well......". Even so, all three were fukking hilarious! Thanks, Tree!
@UrinatingTree2 жыл бұрын
The Trubisky part aged well in that vid. The Mahomes part did not.
@akakjb2 жыл бұрын
@@UrinatingTree Yeah, well, being a Chiefs fan, I'm very happy that your take was wrong on Mahomes but you're absolutely right that if he'd gone to just about any other team, he'd probably be considered a bust. After decades of mediocre to godawful drafts, I'm still bewildered by how well Veach and Reid have done with the draft since they came aboard. I get why the Chiefs are getting torched by other fans (I like to call it "Patriots Syndrome") but believe me, we're as amazed by the past 4 seasons as much as anyone else. BTW - Thanks for mentioning Trent Green. I know he's got a ring from the Rams (even though he got to watch that season from the bench) but I think he's on the list of QB's that really should have led a team to a Superbowl. After that first concussion, he was just never the same. He's still really active here in KC and is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

Honesty really disappointed in Kwesi in MN. He was supposed to bring new life to Minnesota, and his draft was just role playing as a shittier Rick Spielman. That trade back with Detroit was awful in terms of what you got back.
@darthvader37422 жыл бұрын
Yeah it really was plus some of the players they passed up on as well.
@BrettFlesch2 жыл бұрын
Shit, im fine with the trade. It doesnt look great on paper, but imo, since the draft was pretty deep it helped us get not just lewis cine(who jerry jones apparently had at #13 on his draft board), but also let us trade back with the packers and grab booth at 42(who a lot of people had going in the 1st). I think he just valued cine and booth vs kyle hamilton, which I agree with because we're not 1 kyle hamilton away from being contenders, we need good players and we also really need depth. Along with picks like ed ingram and brian asamoah, I think the vikings had a really good draft. Guess only time will tell though.

Hey Urinating Tree. Been watching your draft videos. Really enjoying them and how you present it. One suggestion is revisiting more drafts and maybe even revisiting older drafts? Think it would be pretty cool. You're awesome.

As a Seahawks fan, I’m shocked we didn’t trade away the 1st round pick but hot damn our qb room sucks. If we get 5 wins I’m surprised
@MrEcoho2 жыл бұрын
eh i think lock might surprise a lot of people. the guy was never a bad QB, the moment you go through his film and count the number of dropped passes and screwed up routes by his receivers it becomes clear that his issues stemmed from bad coaching and bad receivers. in a better environment with a coach who can actually develop him and receivers who can actually catch i feel hes going to put up wins.

It would've been smart for you guys to trade for Baker Mayfield. Low risk high reward move. If it doesn't work out, you can replace him with a rookie in 2023 and the only con is a loss of money for this year. If Baker proves to be good, Seahawks would already be playoff contenders again this year and he'd be a solid long-term solution at QB.
