The mini did a great job, so much better than hand digging!

I did my pool pad with a board and level. I got it perfect, but after putting 40,000 lbs of water in the pool, the ground settled a few inches on one side. Just rolled with it last year. Added the few inches to make up for it this year. Holding good so far.

That's annoying, haha. There is nothing worse than doing your best, and God and nature just giggling saying "watch this"

Thanks Brock. back in the 80's we just used a Screed Board, drilled a vertical hole through a 2x6. pinned that to the center. and slowly Went around the circumference of the Pool to lower or fill in as need. then a layer of sand. the pool was almost perfect when filled to the top edge. Mike M.

I like videos where you do potential 'contract' work for customers. You mentioned this was a family job, but you offered a viable service that could interest other customers. I'm sure lots of your viewers would like to watch you build a small business utilizing your skills and equipment. Pool leveling, minor backyard clearing & old yard shed demolition, patio removal, etc; this new facet could generate income for you while enriching the video content.

I like the mini, good job. Guess the old time practice of checking stuff at home before going to the jobsite holds true.

Enjoyable video Brock. The mini skid steer works great for that leveling job. Thanks

Mini-skid is pretty tricky to grade with in any kind of bigger space - but obviously way more efficient than by hand. Brock - check out a “Zip Level” , game changer one man grade BOSS! Brock on brother!🙏🏼

They are expensive, yes, but a lot more quick and handy than a transit😉

After watching a lot of mini skid steer videos I'm starting to believe that one of these machines could be a decent sole machine for a homestead or rural homeowner with some acres instead of a compact tractor. These mini skid steers can do almost everything a subcompact or smaller compact tractor can. All you can't do is real farming tasks like pulling a plow or disc. Most people aren't actually farming with compact tractors but are using attachments like the loader, pallet forks, and brush cutting. The more powerful hydraulics on the mini skid steer allows for many front mounted skid steer attachments that would be three point hitch mounted on a tractor.

Excellent for material handling. You can be really efficient with stuff like a stump grinder or an auger. You can grade with it. The downside is if you need to brush cut a field it would be a really really slow option.

You had the right idea with the string. I would have used a tape to check from pivot to pole every two feet
@greenwoodsbushhogging67047 ай бұрын
Mini skids are perfect for that kind of job. The only "fault" I see is no sand. I've always used a 2" layer of sand under the pool as puncture protection. Plus, it's way easier to get the dirt to a rough grade, then final grade with the sand layer.

we recently had a vermeer mini skid in our yard doing some work and it left horrible ruts everywhere it went, making it really hard to mow with the zero turn.

all you need is two 2x4s , 30' if clear tubing and some water. "water tube level" is over if the easiest to use and doesn't need batteries
@brandtwebber57617 ай бұрын
I think you did good, my only concern would be compaction but I dont know about those stand on machines. That said a pool really aint that heavy when figured by the square foot.

Hold up ends of a garden hose across the pool filled with water, that's your level. Romans built Pyramids with same concept, used tiny canals filled with water rather than their garden hoses, ha. God bless. TFS
