If you had a Harley rake, power tiller, or a scarifier it would not take near as long. A lot of times if you use a bucket it will actually make the yard less level than it was before. If you had a power rake you could rake/till it all up then come back with the land leveler and back drag it a couple of times and it would be as smooth as a new born babies butt. Plus it would be seed ready as soon as you got done. If your just using a bucket the soil often times is hard packed and not ready for seed. I am a landscaper in NC and we do a lot of new yard renovations. Don’t get me wrong you can do it all with a bucket but I would definitely have a tooth bucket instead of a flat edge. The soil does look pretty good so it shouldn’t be hard to get good fescue to grow. Here in NC we have a lot of clay and red dirt so it’s hard to get fescue to stick around all year. One other thing...it’s a skid steer/bobcat not a tractor. Tractors have steering wheels 😂😂
@moto23ch3 жыл бұрын
Why is a tooth bucket better?
@ClinttheGreat2 жыл бұрын
@@moto23ch The teeth cut into the ground better than a smooth bucket because instead of the down force being spread over the entire width of the smooth bucket, it is concentrated to the teeth.

@AmbrosLandscapingInc6 жыл бұрын
If I were to redo this job I would kill off the grass and haul in soil to smooth out the yard instead of tearing it all out. I would say laying down a thin layer of good too soil you will get the best results from to help with roots attaching to the ground faster.

How hard to learn to operate those? I have a 1/4 vacant lot in central florida with very soft sandy soil. Currently I have a 3' dip in the middle and the back is very high like +6'. I basically want to change up elevation of the entire lot create a very high level pad in the middle & back and driveway on one side with a very low island in the front (30% of the lot), a 3' slope from the pad to trench in the perimeter. In some spots in the back and perimeter I'd be looking to dig as much as 4' lower than what i am now. I'm wondering if a skit steer bobcat like this one could do this job without needing a back hoe? There are no structures, no fences and no neighbors.. wonder what a job like this would cost to contract?
@Clintotron3 жыл бұрын
It’s not super hard to learn. It’ll take more than a weekend to get decent, so rental wouldn’t be cost effective. Also, before you go changing your property, check with local guidelines to see what constitutes “wetland habitat”. Here in Louisiana, land that holds water for more than 2 weeks at a time is considered wetland habitat and takes extra paperwork, permits, etc. If you’re into that sort of thing. I am not. I do not care. I do what I want.

@@NaySeld In NC usually cost between $75-100 an hour for the dump truck/driver. I'd say around $150 for the dumping and trailer rental all together. Not a bad deal if your hauling 10-14 cubic yards of dirt. You could even save a bit if you find a place that needs fill in dirt.
