For me the NES version is the most iconic because it was my first exposure to this series and this piece of music. However my favorite has to go to Gradius V's rendition.

Still one of the most ominous and effective BGM's ever to grace a video game. Each time I played a new Gradius game, hearing this track suddenly start up sent chills down my back and made me wonder "oh GOD which Lifeforce boss did they drag up from Hell to pit against me..."

I've played them all since 1986, when here it's called LifeForce, other places it's called Salamander. To me Gradius V and Gorgeous kinda goes neck and neck. With Gradius V, you get the sinister version, while with Goregous you get a version that makes you dance to it.

MSX and Gradius 2 arcade are my favourite versions. Both are crisp and clear and don't have too many instruments contaminating what the actual tune is (if that makes sense).

I find Gradius V Poison of Snake theme the best ^_^. But wait til you hear the one in Gradius VI I'm making my Gradius VI (6) ideas to send to Konami and it's poison of snake theme will be the best. Remixed the same as Gradius V Game Over theme only this time it will truelly play like the original ^_^.
