Ah Stage 5. Ender of many runs. One of the most intense stages in the game is also one of the most rewarding levels in gaming. You feel like such a badass when things go your way especially since it's one of the levels that require improvisation and much as reflexes to complete.

Blaster Cannon Core means such serious business... I was doing so well in this stage I was surprising myself and then I got to him. So many bullets. Everywhere.

One of the most intense levels in the game, everywhere you look there's asteroids and enemy fire coming at you from every single direction ...... but the epic soundtrack makes it all bearable...

I still have absolutely no idea how to beat this boss without just throwing lives at it, and while I can usually get through the stage without dying, it's incredibly tense the whole way through.

My thoughts exactly. I feel like I'm going good and have a good flow, and then I hit this stage and my demeanor and confidence go out the door, and it just becomes "Don't panic and pick up the Options you dropped!"

It's been a loooong time but - the strategy I used for this boss was to never shoot during the barrage of meteors, then try to get in as close as possible to destroy core shields. If you destroy enough of the shields, you can just fit inside and be mostly safe while the boss does its big blast.

Reminds me of Salamander 2 Stage 5, as the stage and this one are both asteroid stages.

The hardest boss in Gradius he fought was the Keeper's Core. That boss is hell on loop 10. X(

yeah, and i love to fight with him because like you said, he is the one of the hardest stages in gradius history. and those who are stronger, like cores, it's interesting, INTERESTING! i want to fight with him now, but still, i don't have the playstation 2 because my brother destroy it. \_/

@aliultimate009 Ergh, Late Reply-- But to Bullet Hell Shooter Players, that's called 'streaming'. Since most of the bullets are aimed at you, you only have to worry about where you're going to lead them. Like say, using the rocks to block the bullets. or just leading them to empty spaces. The game makes this boss look hard, but there just actually teasing you. HITBOXES FTW!

I'll be frank - compared to them Heavens Gate is a piece of cake X) Take this from a player who faced them all on highest loops where the game difficulty locks X)

+aliultimate009 I still can't seem to get in between the lines. So I find it really hard. And yet when I battle Blaster Cannon Core, I have almost no trouble with it. Except on phase one.

+harrimat100 It's only about timing which is a LOT easier compared to Blaster Cannon Core & Keepers Core when you face them on higher difficulties :)

The highest I've done on Gaiden is Loop 3 and on V is loop 4.

This stage is the only reason I cannot beat this game on hardest mode with revival start on, Blaster Cannon Core is extremely difficult to do on recovery play. And since boss timeout periods are very long on this game, I cannot wait it out before I get shot dead =(. It makes me mad that it is more or less a clone of Dellinger Core from Gradius III, just with endless meteors from behind. And I beat Gradius III. Meh. I wish I could record the songs off PS2. But, too there are too many sound fx.
